Final 4 and NC Game Thread

Didn't know I couldn't make an observation here without someone taking offense.......I didn't insult OU......just saying they didn't have the athletes this year to play that kind of D.

As for OU being a far above average defensive team this year.....??

And I thought the Big 12 was just average this year.....Tech was the best team this year and are playing their best ball right now.

And I hope that Owens can play Monday night.....Tech will probably have to have him to win.

We were 23rd in the nation in defensive efficiency. I was wrong, we were not just above average, we were far above average.

both Tech and Virginia are playing about the same kinda ball right now, not gonna allow many easy baskets and gonna lock you down in the half court offense. Tech will be the national darling especially after how Virginia won tonight. Virginia might be a team of destiny but Tech might be playing better overall. Gonna be an old fashioned grinder of a game. Hope Tech wins but have the feeling VA is gonna find a way to sneak out a W again.

The double dribble is an easy call in slow motion replay. Not an easy call live. There's a reason no one on the broadcast, and the overwhelming majority of fans watching it live, picked it up when it happened.

But it was still a missed call. I was hoping the UVA kid would make 2 of 3 free throws so we could decide it in overtime fair and square.

I felt like it was pretty easy to see live. Maybe difficult for the fans in the nosebleeds to see, but not on TV or anybody with a front row view like the refs had. This play didn't need to be slowed down or zoomed in; the ref just flat out blew it.

It's pretty amazing that Texas Tech has a very legitimate shot at a national championship... It still hasn't really sunk in. Texas Tech....

meh ... it's nice to see someone different. I think it's kinda cool that these other kids at Tech have really stepped up. For the longest time Culver seemed to be the only scoring threat on that team. I think it makes the Big-12 look good not to mention Tech obviously.

The conference that only had one team in the Sweet 16?

No matter. Championships matter more than anything else.

NIT CHAMP: Texas
NCAA Men's Champ: Texas Tech?
NCAA Women's Champ: Baylor?

That would be quite a sweep, and it could happen. If this happens, you can say "the Big-12 is the best conference" and people around the country might actually believe it.

Go Tech. Guns Up.

Even still, using this tournament as proof that the Big XII is loaded is absurd. ISU and KSU got bounced in the first round. Auburn took KU to the woodshed. Congrats to UT for being the 69th best team in the country, I guess?
Didn't WVU get throttled in the first round of the CBI?

The argument on this board has always been that the Big XII might not be great at the top, but it has the best depth. If anything, this tournament has flipped that argument on its head.

Oh, I agree. Tell a basketball fan east of the Mississippi River that the Big-12 is the strongest basketball conference from top-to-bottom, and they will just roll their eyes. Quote some mathematical metric and they will think you foolish or laugh out loud. Based on my experience, the Big-12 is not really viewed as a "top conference" around the country. I have some buddies that live in the South and more in Arizona, and they almost automatically put the ACC and Big-10 at the top, based on the "eye test," or what they watch in sports bars year-in and year-out. Seeing is believing, and when they watch Big-12 games they are not that impressed.

A national championship by a Big-12 team other than KU would certainly help the national perception of the conference.

The Big XII wasn't particularly good this year. Most teams in the league were much worse than they normally are (Kansas, WVU, OU, Texas, OSU). Tech was the only team in the league that was much better than they normally are.

I hate texas..and not a big "rah rah b12 guy"

BUT....

horns won the NIT, lady bears won the WNC (anyone but uconn) and now tt night win the MNC.

OU will/should win the w/m gym NC, possible softball.

That would be a good hall for the B12.

"Normal" for the Big 12 is pretty good.

Congrats to the Big 12 which will finish as the highest-rated conference in my system for the sixth consecutive season.
