Making the Final Four is a tremendous accomplishment. Whole lot of teams out there who won't be getting Final Four hardware for 2016.

I like the idea. Final 4 is a big deal. Yeah didn't win it but I like it.

Dont think of it as a participation trophy.

Actually if you make the FF it means you won your regional championship.

Since you asked ...

SCOTT THOMPSON
VIDEO COORDINATOR
Fifth Year at Oklahoma

Responsible for every aspect of advanced scouting and game and practice breakdowns, Scott Thompson is in his fifth season as OU’s video coordinator. He was hired by Lon Kruger in April 2011 after gaining significant coaching and administrative experience at the high school and major college levels.

Thompson also serves as OU’s character coach and implemented “The X’s and O’s of Sooner Basketball” orientation program for new players. The program aims to build student-athlete character and provide education about OU’s storied basketball history and tradition.

Immediately before arriving at OU, Thompson spent five years as the varsity boys basketball coach at Cambridge Christian School in Tampa, Fla., guiding the Lancers to a 78-48 combined record and to district titles in 2010 and 2011. He was named the Hillsborough County 1A Coach of the Year the same seasons. Thompson also served as Cambridge Christian’s athletics director his final four years at the school, overseeing one of the largest 1A private school athletics departments in the state (33 athletics teams and 45 department staff members). In addition, he served as the coach of all-star teams that toured the Dominican Republic in 2009 and 2010.

At the college level, Thompson spent three years (2004-06) as the director of basketball operations at USF under then-head coach Robert McCullum. There he coordinated the day-to-day operations of the program, including opponent scouting, film exchange, team travel, on-campus recruiting and academic monitoring. He was also the director of the successful Robert McCullum Basketball Camps that grew to more than 150 high school teams and 1,500 campers each summer.

Thompson also spent four years working in various capacities with the University of Mississippi basketball program. He was on the graduate staff in 2002-03 and served as a host for prospective student-athletes on recruiting visits, supervised on-court workouts, managed equipment, hosted visiting team’s practices and game-day shoot-arounds, coordinated film exchange, and handled the recruiting mail database and video editing. His work at Ole Miss extended to academics, monitoring student-athletes’ study hall and class attendance while also organizing tutor sessions.

Thompson was a student assistant on the Ole Miss basketball staff for the 2001-02 campaign. He started working in the Rebel basketball office as a volunteer in the summer of 1998 and began working basketball camps the following year. He also worked summer basketball camps at Duke University from 1999 to 2002.

I would presume that key staff members would get rings, including:

> Bryce Daub, Strength and Conditioning Coach
> Scott Thompson, Video Coordinator
> Alex Brown, Athletic Trainer

Teams have gotten rings for "shared" big 12 championships in football, even though they didn't have the tiebreaker.
I also remember Mizzou used to get rings for being Big 12 south champs in football. I'd say the final four is a bigger accomplishment than those things.

I follow 2 of the GA's on staff, and it looks like they both got them. I assume Mike Shepherd, Scott Thompson, and Alex Brown all also received ones. That's probably about it.
