He has no leash. And what has he done for them lately...Does anyone remember Baylor losing to The NC team buy 7 last year in the Elite 8.

Give the coach credit. He has put Baylor on the map. They are no longer a 'automatic win' team b/c of him.

Good point. The way the program was when he inherited shouldn't have any bearing on that. To be accurate, he's made 2 NCAAs in 6 years. In 03-04 they were banned from postseason play, in 05-06 they were only allowed to play conference games. They also had reduced scholarships and visits. But we should ignore all context. Oh yeah I forgot, he got them to the tourney in '08, NIT runner up in '09, and Elite 8 in '10. Baylor last made the NCAA tourney in 1988.

No I remember. I guess I should have been clearer. With this new information today about Perry Jones taking benefits, it looks like Drew has no control of his players off-the-court. Some are even implying that he's (Baylor) cheating to get guys to come to Waco. Lately his team has also been lost on-the-court. From the outside looking in, it seems like this program is in disarray. Like I said, I don't think they'll fire him, but he might be getting some ultimatums sooner than later. The guy has (or had) 4 NBA guys on his roster and still can't get them into the tourney. That in of itself speaks volumes.

I think Drew does a good job, but I think part of the hostility towards him comes from other posters on here pumping him up. What has Capel done without Blake? What has Drew done without Udoh? Circular argument, but that is the reason for the hostility.

Its a horrible rule to make kids go to school for 1 year. It should be either 2 years or 0. 1 year is just asking for this to happen.

Definitely agree with that. BU fans are just going to see that PJ3 is a lottery pick and their team is a NIT team. We all know how short-sighted (myself, definitely) fans are. How mad would OU fans be if Capel would have gotten us to only the NIT with Blake? It would have been bad.

Thats why I think Capel deserves 1 more year. B/c he achieved the highest success he could have with Griffin...just losing to a great team in UNC. Its hard to tell what would have happened w/ last years team if Warren didn't get hurt and miss most of the big 12.

But the 1 thing about Drew...his teams do better with great PG play..and Walton is far from a great PG. Maybe Franklin will do better.

It may read like a conspiracy story, but I wondered why this story came out today as a bubble team embarked on it's biggest game of the year. It smells of sabotage. Someone waited to release this info?
