Actually he needs to retire. Go out gracefully. Then joe C can tell the assistant coaches that have failed miserably to develop our player to hit the road.

I'm with you on this. Lon is a fantastic guy and deserves to go out on his own terms. But having said that, he needs to go out sooner rather than later. This program is in decline. We had a lottery pick this year...and we are barely going to make the tournament (maybe). Time for a new vision, toughness, and outlook.

You got angry, posted this, then rethought it and edited it and still came up with this?

I agree with his post. Team is not coached well

Tired of watching this unfocused, apathetic dumpster fire. Kruger needs to go. I don't care how good of a guy he is, he's overstayed his welcome.

Dilly dilly!

Actually hopes he retires instead of being fired. But it’s timeti fi

Haven't you people learned anything? OU doesn't fire coaches...how else would Mike Stoops still have a job? Unless Kruger leaves on his own, we are stuck with him.

I agree he needs to retire. He also deserves a lot of respect in how this is handled.

I would like for him to retire and go get a younger coach.

You can tell the great coaches make their teams tough as they get older and spend time in their system......OU players get more soft as the season goes along...

I hadn't thought of this. It is a surprise. I thought that Lon was exactly what everyone wanted.

Syb, are you saying he’s still a good fit? My opinion is it’s time but just asking yours.

I am saying that I have no opinion. I hadn't even thought of it as a possibility. I had assumed that he was popular enough to survive anything.

I still like the guy. I just am not sure that his coaching is effective. We have kids who are NOT improving and continue to make the same mistakes.

I also am concerned about his failure to take the reins of this group and manage them more closely during games when his hands-off, give them time approach has been wholly ineffective. He took ONE timeout last night. I understand that earlier in the year when he's trying to get them to learn by playing through it. But when that has obviously not worked and we need that tighter management he has not responded.

I think it's time to get a new, young guy who will crawl up in there and guide these kids more while also helping them get better. Especially in the paint.

The problem is he tanked the program. This team might squeak into the tournament, but they are clearly a disaster. Next years team is going to be dead last in the conference type awful. Recruiting has been disastrous. There is nothing in the pipeline to get us out of this mess. I would expect multiple kids to transfer this offseason (some because they aren't OU caliber players and are never going to see the floor regularly, and some just to get out of this mess of a program).

The turnaround Lon executed after Capel was remarkable, but we mistakenly believed he had set up something sustainable. Instead, essentially all of the success the team had is attributable to Buddy, Isaiah, and Spangler.

I posted it on my phone and had a typo. Nothing of my opinion had changed. Its the morning and he should still be fired or let go if that's a nicer way of putting it.

Hell, maybe even move him to be a door greeter for the Lloyd Noble Center.
