Fire Porter Moser

I want him gone more than anyone. I did 2ish years ago before Joe Castiglione gave him an unconscionable extension.. But money is obviously king right now and that can change a routine normal firing situation that would have 100% occurred in the past

the money issue will work itself out if they make the right hire.
more ticket sales...more concession sales....
moser gets another job to reduce ou's obligation to his contract...

does ou get more money if the team is in the tournament?

Yea, I think we will win a game or two in spite of ourselves. A team will play like crap, or we will have an unreal shooting night. The fear would be if we somehow manage to win, say, four or more games. I don't see that happening, but the league is so down compared to last year that we only have one ranked team left on the schedule somehow.
The thing is, this team is CAPABLE of winning games and could put together some wins, including some impressive wins. They are talented enough to do it. They've been close.

Could they win enough to save his job and/or make the tournament, considering the schedule and the league isn't as strong this year? It would take a minimum of 8-10 with a win in the SEC to be on the bubble, IMO. And we know the run they went on to make it the end of last year. Possible but highly unlikely. The pattern is there for more than just this year. Not finishing games, defensive lapses, and scoring droughts isn't a Nigel Pack, Mo Wague, or Tae Davis problem. It's a Moser-coached team issue.

I think the minimum has to be 18-19 wins, and though it is possible, it's just not realistic. As you said, winning 2-3 more games is more likely from what we've seen.

Feels a lot more like that year with Capel where we didn't win after January more than the end of tye year run we did last year.

There is zero chance this teams makes the tourney. Not a remote chance. Not a puncher's chance. That ship has long since sailed. With our awful noncon resume and the league being down, we would probably need to win at least 8 or our final 10. That's not even a scenario worth discussing. The "run" at the end of last year was a 3-game streak, including the Georgia game in the tournament. That's a far cry from a 10-game stretch, which is what they would need now. It's fiction.

Tournament money is doled out as units split among the conferences over a rolling six-year period.

We get money from the SEC whether we make the tournament or not. Last year was a big year with 14 teams earning money for the conference pot. However, the tournament units we earned as members of the Big 12 stayed with them.

A friend from high school (grew up in the Tulsa area) who sometimes talks to someone who works for OU said there is "less than a 1%" chance that Moser is fired before the end of the season. He said Denny is pretty tight lipped but he feels it's like a "50/50" that Moser gets a grace year. He said it seems the clock reset a bit for Moser due to the AD change, and if he finishes the year strong it could influence Denny's decision. He said a poor finish could influence Denny's decision too, but that Denny will definitely let the year play out before making a final decision.
well you are a known troll so...

Not to bust your chops, but you couldn't come up with a more original username than THAT? :)
I noticed it right away! In the good ole’ days, that crotchety old guy with a name like mine might have forced him to select a username that wouldn’t create confusion. Who knows? Boulder might do that now.

The best option, of course, would be if our new friend fixed it on his own. Just my opinion. You’re welcome here even if you disagree with me, Wayman Fan, or is it WaymanFan? I’m so old now, I’m easily confused! 😵‍💫

I’m so slow now it’s embarrassing! Boulder is way ahead of me on the name confusion. WaymanFan is, too. He didn’t even see it as a problem.

I love ❤️ retirement life!!!

I just caught the very end of it but I THINK I heard Parker Thune say that Moser was the only coach not present at the press conference yesterday. Did anybody else hear that? If so, that would seem to speak volumes wouldn't it?

Not very smart if true

It wouldn't mean anything.

I don't know if Moser was there, but Denny said he met Moser yesterday, at some point. The way I read it, he was there. Somebody even said Denny didn't recognize him in the crowd. I read that somewhere. But even if not, he was likely at something he couldn't get out of. It happens. No way Denny has already told Moser he's gone, or that Moser is simply not showing up to stuff like that because of the season.

Thune is just looking for attention.

How? Legitimately asking. In what tangible way does it benefit us? Sure it feels good, but does it get us better players down the road?
Sorry. Was stuck on Lawton all day. There are various ways our NBA players have helped the program through the years, and having another doesnt hurt. Maybe it delayed our return to winning another by year, maybe not. But i dont see how it wont be a potential asset available for our next coach. Maybe the next coach will be able to use these connections better.

this is accurate but the ticket sales is a big deal ..

going form 9k to 4k season ticket holder is a big big deal

This right here. This will be the nail in Porter's coffin more than anything.
Yep, ticket sales and BMDs funding, or not funding, NIL will force Denny/Stephenson to make a move regardless of any strategic plan to fix things or how much they like Moser.

Lack of money and apathy in support translates to the bottom line. And we are there now.

That will definitely help him transfer to a good school after a year in Moser’s system

he'll be released from his commitment to ou after moser gets fired.....and he'll probly get a better nil package at his next school of choice.
