Fire Porter Moser

If he is not fired, I think an extension of some sort has to be done. First off I think it’s time for a change, but can you really have a coach that is on his last year of a contract coaching your team? Possible hard sell to recruits for 2027 class. Hard sell to students. Not showing investment in team. And let’s say he has a great season next year, you could loose him for nothing.

Just a curious observation that puts ou in a hard spot.
Are you freaking crazy? Extension? LOL, HELL NO.

I don't see that as an option. I don't think a school like Cuse would have any interest in him at this point. Why would they?

If we get in, he's going to be tough to fire.
If we miss out, even if we're first out again, there is a lot more ammo for moving on.
Syracuse spends in the middle/bottom of the ACC. A coach who in 5 years with the lowest budget in the SEC has made 2 tourneys and been the first team out twice. Autry's contract with Syracuse was 3 million annually, that would rank dead last in the SEC in coaches salaries. Pre NIL yes that was a respected job with history, now they certainly don't spend to attract someone top end.

I doubt Syracuse decision makers think they’re less attractive. Providence would make more sense but I don’t see anyone coming after moser to save us.

Extension? You're crazy. A DE-extension more like

beating LSU/auburn/texas/south carolina/a&m doesn't impress me.
make the sweet 16 and he can keep his job another year.
hopefully he would use that success to take another job.
Two are tournament teams. Don’t impress you. Not important. He’s back so accept it. Or don’t

One thing Denny is supposed to be good at is contract structure and negotiation. I seriously doubt he’s going to extend a coach who was going to be fired just a week ago. We aren’t using the JoeC contract stupidity anymore. Those days are over.

He was never going to be fired. Definitely not in the past month.

and left out MIZ by double digits, another tournament team. Theo in Vandy and that’s another tourney team and Q1 win on the road

Regardless of one’s opinion on the future of Moser at OU, it’s hard to deny the impressive run of 6 wins in a row, and 8 of 10 which included multiple Q1 wins over tourney teams.

I wouldn't think Villanova would have legit interest last off season, but they did...

I don't see how you can extend him when he should have been, and probably almost was, fired after a couple of his 5 seasons.

His contract goes thru 2028 anyways, so he wouldn't be in his last year next season. That almost works out perfectly if he keeps his job, because we wouldn't have to extend him and could EASILY move on from him after next season.
I was under impression from this board his co tract was up in April of 2027. If 2028, then definitely not needing to consider it.

Your hope is he wins tonight to lock up the tourney, then there's a handshake deal behind closed doors between him and OU that he should take hopefully the Syracuse or providence job.
I really doubt he gets the Syracuse job. Hodgson from USF I think gets that one.

oh trust me I don't either. But if him and his agent can get his name to be publicly circled there like Villanova then you are much more likely to get him other opportunities.

Hodgson will be attached to every job. Syracuse guys seem to think they are going to make a run at Byington.

Extension? This must be a joke, right? Kids today sign for one year at a time. The status of the coach beyond the next year is irrelevant.
I think change is needed and want a new coach next year. I can see players not caring if they are in the portal, but high schoolers may care. But point taken.
