Fitzgerald is definately a bright a spot.

I have put the bug in his ear to go workout with Frank as had Blake and Taylor. I hope he decides to join him this summer!

I would love for Blake and Taylor to come back and work with our big guys this summer. Can you imagine if he instills toughness into these guys!

I doubt Fitz would've been worth 5-6 more wins but if what you say is correct then Jeff really blew it.

Do you see what happened when our post men fouled out and we have to play 4 guard lineup at the end? We couldn't get a defensive rebound at all.
If Capel had played 2 posts at the start of the season and bited the bullet early on, this will be a tournament team. This is the worst coaching job of all time.

And the most indecisive coach I have seen.

Oddly enough, Fitz probably had one of our most athletic moves of the night, on his slash to the bucket (and perhaps a clutch with it) to give us 6.

To be honest, I think we can expect really good things from Fitz. Its rare that a big man comes in and has the midrange shot down, but Fitz is able to hit that shot even with decent pressure. Fairly quick trigger as well.

Condition him up and get him on the boards and you will have a consistent double-double guy.

I saw a couple moves by Fitz tonight to know he's more athletic than many here believe.

I can see him being an Ace McGee type player for us except without the three point shooting.

The thing about Andrew is that he's not the most effective rebounder and that's putting it mildly so it's almost like having four guards out there because of his inability to rebound the ball with any consistency and most of his scoring occurs away from the basket.

Yep....the slash with the pump was quite athletic. Get better conditioning with his mid range game and by his junior year he may be around 3rd team all-conference

He made 2 or 3 turnaround jumpers that are a thing of beauty. You guys don't think that his defense would have improved if he played this kind of minutes the beginning of the season. There is no way having him out there is like having 4 guards lineup because of his defense. Imagine if you put Morris on Crocker, Morris will score at will with his body on the slim and smaller Crocker. If we have played 4 guard lineup, we would be outrebounded not by 6 but by zillion.

Not so sure we would be a tournament team(maybe NIT), but I do think we would be better if Capel had went to two bigs early and stayed with it. His lineup fluctuations haven't helped this team develop any continuity. I know part of it was beyond his control(injuries, illness, attitudes, theft), but I never understood how a kid could start 1-2 games, then not even be good enough to get off the bench in the next game? Fitz, Pledge, and Willis come to mind. Hopefully, Coach will learn as much from this season as I hope his young squad is learning!

Take a look at the other "4's" in our league and tell me who Fitz is supposed to guard? The Morris twins fit into a more favorable match-up than the rest of the league. He'll get another shot against A&M because they play a line-up which is a little more conventional...but that won't stop Bryan Davis from eating Fitz alive.

Fitz looks good offensively right now, which is definitely a plus. But let's be honest, on each opponent's scouting report, he is the 5th guy they are worried about scoring...so he is going to get some more open looks and fewer double teams.

He's looked great on offense, but the guy averages one (1) rebound per eight minutes played. That's awful.

Bited?!?

And no. I'm no Capel apologist, but we did start Wright and Gallon together early in the year. This team was TERRIBLE starting as much youth as we were early on. The answer wouldn't have been to replace Wright with Fitz. Besides, Fitz is just now getting to the point where he is helpful. He would have been BAD starting day 1.

Unreal that people really think we'd be several wins better in doing that. Not even close. We haven't lost games b/c of Crocker's play at the 4.

This.

It was a decent matchup last night for Fitz. It won't always be that way, and that is one reason he may be better coming off the bench, if we can recruit the right kind of supporting bigs.

I'm not trying to take anything away from Fitz...really like how he's contributing right now. But until he gets in shape and gains some strength, you're not going to be able to count on him every night.
