I'm not trying to take anything away from Fitz...really like how he's contributing right now. But until he gets in shape and gains some strength, you're not going to be able to count on him every night.

Oh, I agree. I definitely liked what I saw last night, he is just never going to be able to guard the Juan Patillo-type 4's. So we need to recruit another post option for when we go up against those types of players.

Take a look at the other "4's" in our league and tell me who Fitz is supposed to guard? The Morris twins fit into a more favorable match-up than the rest of the league. He'll get another shot against A&M because they play a line-up which is a little more conventional...but that won't stop Bryan Davis from eating Fitz alive.

Fitz looks good offensively right now, which is definitely a plus. But let's be honest, on each opponent's scouting report, he is the 5th guy they are worried about scoring...so he is going to get some more open looks and fewer double teams.

He's looked great on offense, but the guy averages one (1) rebound per eight minutes played. That's awful.

I'm not saying Fitz is the answer, just saying he looks better the more he plays. The more minutes he gets, the more confidence he gains. He may not have Pattillo's athletic ability, but I'm not so sure he is the athletic dud everyone on this board makes him out to be. He made some really quick moves last night, and with a good offseason, this kid may turn a lot of heads next year!

It's easier for a hybrid to guard Fitz, then vice versa. Crocker has done a pretty good job this year defending 4's, and he isn't even really a hybrid.

This goes back to my post about Fitz being the 5th option...the opposing 4's he must guard are more than likely the 1st or 2nd option for their team. Fitz is not a "force" underneath, he isn't going to draw fouls and sure as **** isn't cleaning up the offensive glass...so there isn't much to worry about besides the jumper.

You're going to let Fitz (right now) shoot those jump shots if it means keep touches out of Tiny's hands and making TMG give up the rock. Don't think Pat Knight would be too concerned if he say Fitz guarding Singletary...

I agree that after a summer of some serious conditioning and work on his lateral quickness, he will be even more of an asset next year.

Looked at the Texas game, Damion James is as athletic as a 4 can be, we made those big run when Fitz is in there playing the 4.

I also think he could get minutes against some centers. Fitz is not very strong though and that's where he needs to put in alot of work.

Playing Fitz early was not the answer. The guy was carrying 26 more pounds when the year started. If he can't rebound right now, was even getting off the floor then?

He is doing much better as he continues to get into shape.

To say we would be in the tourney if he played more early is a stretch. I think he shows promise for the future, however your comments about the worst coaching job ever are way off.

Actually, I think the Morris Twins were a horrible matchup for Fitz. They are both really quick and Self moves them around a lot. Luckily for Fitz, Marcus' shot was off. It also helped that it was obvious that KU wasn't taking the matchup real seriously.

A team like KU is a tough matchup to play Fitz and Gallon together because Self moves his bigs around a lot to swing the ball, look for the high low, setting picks on the wing and rolling to the basket.

Fitz looked good shooting the ball and the fact that TMG got so much attention allowed him quite a few good looks at the basket.
