Pastner is supposed to be on 1430 the Buzz at 5. They have been discussing him as a potential candidate on the Buzz. If I get a chance to listen, I will try to post a summary.

My three choices are, in no particular order:

1. Buzz
2. BCG

I keep hearing how Buzz's record has dwindled in the last three years. Sure it did, but barely. And regardless, he has been able to make it to the tourney each of those three years at a Big East school near the middle or bottom of totem pole. Buzz can coach and recruit. He has been able to bring Texas recruits to Marquette, so he most certainly would be able to bring those recruits to OU.

BCG would be a great coach here, but I just don't see it happening with the baggage. Joe's comments so far have been key with my assessment.

Pastner would be great. He is not "dirty" as many think. He has a great story and has been coaching since the age of 16, with great ties to the AAU circuit in Texas.

If I had to say right now who I think is in the lead, I would have to go with Buzz. Great coach, great recruiter (regardless what some on this board think), and great character. He would fill the LNC. What more does Joe want? You heard it here first!! Buzz will be our new coach. Just call me chewy II. Just kidding.

What's greener? He's from Houston (coached Houston Hoops for couple years before being an assistant at Arizona). He was a hell of a recruiter at Arizona. Good record at Memphis.

We will be extremely lucky if Josh Pastner decides to come to OU. It would be a great hire for us and sure if he's successful here we'll probably have to fend off a lot of possible suitors. But you're kidding yourself if you think he can't turn around our program instantly with the way he can recruit.

Nobody can recruit like Calipari. That guy, and no exaggeration, gets 4 of the top 12 recruits every year. Nobody is as dirty as he is either.

Very good recruiter as an assistant at Arizona. Have no clue how he has recruited to Memphis. And can he actually coach? I think the jury is still out on that.

Pastner only has one Texan on his roster and he's not a good player, really. To top it off, while at Arizona, they only recruited 4 Texans (J. McClellan, Nic Wise, Fendi Onobun & Ndudi Ebi)...only two have been contributors - Nic Wise & McClellan. Onobun is in the NFL but did nothing special at UA. Ebi went straight to the pros. So 3 good Texans in 9 years. Not remarkable.
