? for you guys

Some of you need to stop acting like it is a slight to a player to say he wont play in the NBA. The nba consists of 30 teams with an average roster size of 14. That equals 420 players in the NBA. That is the best 420 players in the entire world. Saying Spangler is not in the top 420 is not disrespectful. Spangler is a really good college player providing very good minutes to our very good team. We would not be where we are without him, but he is not going to play in the NBA. He will be able to continue to play oversees if he wants and will make good money doing it.

i never said he was going to play in the nba and i even pointed to his size as the reason it is unlikely ...

but that is no reason to mis state stats about guys in the nba ... or to cut spanglers production ... both of which have occured in this thread

again this is simply not true .. his jr numbers are every bit as good as collisons .. unless you are someone that only looks at PPG ... and ignores usage rate and efficiency numbers .. and per 40 min numbers

Collison was way better on assists, steals, blocks and overall usage rate. Spangler is only his equal on FG% (not a surprise with fewer shots) and rebounding.

Collison was a consensus all-american his senior season, when his numbers were quite similar to his junior year (he just played more minutes).

I don't think Spangler is that kind of talent.

Sort of like the situation with Tony Allen--a very good scorer in college that is outclassed on that end in the NBA; he's reinvented himself as a defensive expert.

It's impressive that Spangler is comparable to Collison in rebounding and FG%. Collison was always considered an all american lottery stud. His usage rate is starting to increase and definitely will next season. You just never know. His main problem is he's at least 2 niches shorter than Collison which is a big deal.

I will say this, in Vegas, when you watch Spangler in person you see that he's a fluid athlete. More skilled than people give him credit for.

Here's an important variable that I haven't seen mentioned in this discussion: age. Collison was 21 years old in his junior season; Spangler is 23.

That doesn't bode well for Spangler as far as NBA projections go. If you're a 23-year-old big man in college who isn't absolutely crushing younger competition, then you're probably a long-shot to make the NBA.
