? for you guys

One thing I wonder about though. It doesn't really look like, and maybe he's just not taking those shots, Cousins has natural NBA 3 range. Buddy looks like he does. Maybe I'm wrong.

Agreed.

I'm with you. He is the best at getting his own shot off and I believe he's our best athlete. 3 and D guys always have a spot in the NBA if they are consistent.

3 and D guys are also generally 6'7" plus. You need the length.

What do Buddy and his family think? What is important to them? I think he is first round material. I don't think that changes. His family may have a different value system and may be looking for more than a basketball player. He is not the typical prospect.

I don't see it. Unless somebody wants him as a lock down defender.

His handles are still really bad. And at this point, I don't see them getting better. He'd be a turnover machine in the NBA.

what? he is our back up point and almost never turns it over .. his handle is a strength

Right now, Buddy will probably go mid second round. It's tough to climb into the first round without elite size or athleticism. He's not a point guard for now... and is undersized at the 2 in the NBA. His shooting isn't elite either, which can make up for those deficiencies.

With his current skill set I doubt if he'd stick on a roster.

Couldn't disagree more.

Is there a specific instance or game that makes you say that? I haven't done any digging and couldn't rattle off any stats but he always looks solid with the ball to me, creates space and gets where he wants to go on the court. I think some people feel that way about him because his game doesn't "appear" to be smooth if that makes sense? he looks a little helter skelter the way he plays/moves a little unorthodox but he always seems to get the job done.

They are hearing late first round which isn't far from falling to the second.

Interesting! What sources are they hearing that from? DraftExpress and Chad Ford, the two most accurate mock drafts, have him mid to late second round. NBA Draft.net has him late first, but they're not as accurate usually.

If you're hearing late first...chances are you are a second round pick.

When teams like OKC are drafting players like Josh Heustis in the first round and stealing guaranteed money (that was obviously a special deal), it doesn't bode well for the guys reaching for a first round selection.

On the various mocks I've seen at least 20 to 25% of the projected first rounders are Big 12 players including Juwan Staton, Buddy, two from Texas and three from Kansas. I'm surprised Niang and Nash don't occasionally show up.

DraftExpress is awful at accuracy a few years back they thought Klay Thompson was not a lottery pic but a mid to late first. Klay was a dead eye shooter with suspect handles and his defense wasn't that great. They thought Alec Burke was a much better player.

As we can now see Klay has worked on his defense and handles. If Buddy finishes strong at the end of the year he should go. Isaiah once he shows consistency throughout and control his temper he will also go to the next level.

It would be good to see him play without Buddy and see how he can lead the team. I hate saying in some aspects because I like watching them play together.

Buddy should do what he wants...

He is not going to be in a position where he has to go or it will cost him. He will have a chance to improve his stock and get the first guaranteed contract of he stays.

It's interesting how many of your posts on here are about Buddy going pro.

I think he will stay and enjoy his senior year.

So many of these guys make terrible decisions. Just about every year, more underclassmen enter the NBA Draft than there are draft picks (60). What it often means (besides players getting bad advice) is the player does not want to be in college any longer. I don't know Buddy, but if he's projected to be a late #1, my experience from following the draft is that he'll slide to Round 2. If his goal is to be a 1st round pick he should be smart and not hire an agent until he goes to the pre-draft camps and gets a better idea of his draft stock.

I think he'll be a 1st round pick and will leave for the NBA. It's the right decision.

Big Time have you ever seen me start a post about Buddy turning pro. I only comment when it is brought up fact check. I have talked about Spangs a lot as well and think he can find a niche spot maybe a poor man's David Lee in the NBA imo.

I have given instances along with others who agree that if he is hot and gets a first round assurances why shouldn't he go?

Is giving my opinion on the matter a problem on a forum even though the common sense approach in any situation is timing. And if he stays good and if he goes good for him.

I think if Spangler can find the right team he could be to them what Nick is to the Thunder.

I'm not sure Spangler is as big as Nick, but he has the same smarts and does all the little things that sometimes go unnoticed. It's possible.

you're probably right. I am just enamored at how important Nick is to OKC ... something both Westbrook and KD also admitted to when they sat out.
