The Thompson nickname thread got me thinking about some of the past Sooner player nicknames. Since its slow and still the offseason, let's see how many we can recall....

Here's a few to get us going:

John Ontjes = Unconscious Ontjes
Evan Wiley = Hootie
Johnnie Gilbert = Jilla

Who you got?

Skeeter Henry, Choo Kennedy

Johnnie Gilbert- Sea Buiscut. Makes me laugh everytime I think about it.

Hollis "The Price is Right" Price... Which of course was only ever used by Dave Armstrong on the Big 12 network.

This thread needs Sooner04 and NMSooner'80, who would surely dominate us all in recalling these.

A few off the top of my head:

Tony The Hawk Martin
Stacey Sky King
Mike Hellicopter Bell
Jason Skurcenskiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
William Cheese Davis
Aaron Ace McGhee
Joszef Yo-Yo Szendrei

I once heard an interview where Bennie Seltzer and Lamar Odom kept weirdly referring to Nolan Johnson as "Nene," so that may be what people close to him call him, but as far as I can remember it's not something the fanbase at large called him.

Not really a Sooner nickname, but...I about wet myself when the students started chanting "Harry Potter" at Kirk Hinrich.

TMG and Tiny.

Not exactly my favorites, especially since they seem kind of self-imposed and they got them before they even go to OU. We were really just forced to call them those names.

I prefer Caderade since he really got that name from Sooner fans after they saw the energy he played with.

Ricky "Amazing" Grace
Dave "Soul Man" Seiger
"The Big A" Alvin Adams
"The Tis'" Wayman Tisdale
Mookie Blaylock
"TMAC" Tim McCallister
Harvey "The General" Grant

Beau Gerber's nickname will forever be "Big Baby Food"

Despite my best efforts, that one never caught on among, well, anyone. I don't think you can count it.

EDIT: and by "best efforts," I mean, "best efforts that didn't involve expending any real energy."

I love nicknames, but I don't actually believe in trying to make new ones happen. They need to spring up organically.
