game again. Too much a conflict of interest with his boy on the team. He was AWFUL and totally trying to go the other way in praising OSU and not saying anything at all good about OU. Their executives should say NO and he should say NO thanks. Bad broadcast, and Smart did NOTHING today and all they could do is say great things about him - here's a hint, why not praise Osby or M'baye or one of OU's guys who were KICKING OSU's BUTT???

didn't bother me except when he acted like the fragrant foul on Clark was a good call.

I used to defend Fran -- he was one of my favorite hoops broadcasters -- but he now refuses to be evenhanded when calling a Sooner game. So I have to agree with you: Don't use him when OU is playing. When his son has graduated, he can come back.

He was bad today. I don't remember him being anything like that any other time he's done an OU game.

i have never liked Fraschilla as an announcer. his job as the official ESPN Big XII booster annoyed me.

he is all over the place.....the officials are letting them play....i love it....or: the officials are showing the players here in the first minutes of the second half that it's going to be a tightly called game....i love it.

god bless the guy for sending his kid to OU....but i think he makes a living talking nonsense about basketball.

It was a bad call.
But I still like Fran. He was trying to not show his non-bias today though.

This.

I usually like when he does OU games, but definitely not today. I also agreed with his partner that it didn't appear Clark even touched Nash with the elbow. Finally, the Marcus Smart highlights late in the game when his team was about to lose was a bit puzzling to say the least.

The entire game felt like a dedication to OSU basketball.

Talking about Smart from the second the broadcast started. The whole bit on Iba. The iso-cam on Ford. Save that crap for the game in Stillwater. This game was in Norman, and should have slanted towards OU if it were going to slant at all.

Clark's elbow never got closer than eight inches from Nash's face. It may not have been obvious from one of the IR angles, but it was totally obvious on the other. But really, guys, you've surely got to know what a no-win assignment it is for Fran when he has to call an OU game these days. I agree with a couple of the other posters who suggested that ESPN bring in another commentator when the network does an OU game.

I got the impression that Fran was trying too hard to prove he was impartical in today's game. It can't be easy to call an OU-OSU game with his son sitting on the Sooner bench.

If that's what he was doing, he took it too far in the other direction with his over-the-top praise of nearly everyone on the OSU team, as well as their staff. I was sickened by it.

And, by the way, the phantom Nash elbow call was totally bogus. The official underneath with the best angle didn't make the call, because he knew Clark's elbow didn't connect with anything but air. Nash flopped! I'm sure that was what he was taught to do in situations like that. It won't be the last time either. If officials are going to make those calls, and then assume that contact was made, even though there was no evidence to support their assumptions, you'd better believe we're going to see more calls like that in the future.

Fran was pretty bad, but as others have said it has to be difficult for him because you know inside he was rooting for a 25 point OU win.

But his partner, Jon Sciambi, might be the best play by play guy in sports.

Having a son who's a walk on shouldn't have a significant influence on how he calls a game. Guys call games for their alma maters all the time, and rarely does it have major negative effects. That can be just as emotional of an experience.

I think it's just that Fran isn't very good.

I like Fran but if he did as you guys say, there is a precedent. Dean Blevins used to do the same thing whenever he worked OU or OState games.

I agree. Made kicking their butts so much more fun.......
