Frank Martin To South Carolina?

Martin and the AD are NOT getting along...that's the big difference between last year and this year.

they weren't getting along last year either.

martin just needs to decide whether he's going to take whatever job he can get this year, try to wait for a better option next year, or hunker down and try to outlast currie at kstate.

unfortunately, it doesn't seem like he is leaning towards the last option.

If Martin leaves KSU what is the interest level going to be between KSU and Kruger?

Frank is making $1.55 mil so I don't really see them stepping it up that much unless they have their own T. Boone to pony up the extra cash.

Kansas State won't pay Kruger more than he's getting at OU. 0% chance of that even being a possibility.

That ship has already sailed. They went after him when they hired Huggy bear, and Kruger said "no thanks".

He left there for a reason...because that program has a low ceiling and Frank is finding that out now. Kruger can take OU much further than he could KSU.

Don't know what's in the link above.. but its being reported now that Martin has taken the job & the SC board of trustees are meeting to approve the contract.. also apparently Kruger is in Manhattan KS for special donors dinner this evening...

The suspension of Jamar Samuels very well may have been the straw that broke the camel's back.

I bet he's gone.
:) :chestram2:

that's what I was thinking, just wasn't sure how long he was gone for...

Doesn't show-cause mean that the coach and potential hiring university have to go before the NCAA to discuss the hiring and get their approval during that time, not an outright ban for that term no matter what?

Why not throw Kelvin's name in there too? :D

It's not technically a "ban", but in all reality it is. Any university that hires someone that is under a current show cause penalty is taking an ENORMOUS risk, which means it simply isn't going to happen.

John Currie is just the idiot in charge to take that risk lol

I can slowly feel OU climbing back up the Big 12 rankings. Frank Martin leaves KSU and they tumble a bit. Ford stays at OSU and they fall a little bit. TCU and aTm are comparable, and worse than OU. WV loses their two best players and will have to adjust to a new league, and lengthy travel for road games.

I believe Pearl is under a 3 year show cause penalty that started in 2011.

Currie would have to go before the NCAA and plead his case as far as Pearl is concerned. Currie has tightened the screws at KSU the last few years(pissing off both Synder and Martin) in what some see as an attempt to try to show the NCAA that KSU is serious about toeing the line. I think Pearl would be a big risk. Thing is, Currie was deeply involved with Pearl and the bball program while at Tenn. How can he say he was involved but knew nothing of what was going on?

Some around here would like to see Underwood promoted and given a chance. Much less of a contraversial hire than Martin was. This way they can keep some stability and try to keep players. Apparently KSU's top recruit never signed a LOI. Hmmm... And, of course, some are hopeful that Currie and Martin can somehow make up and reach some sort of deal but probably not. This relationship has been broken from the start.

This site will have as much as anything.
