Future Sooners in action today:

8:30 A.M. QXFM.com will have an audio broadcast of the semi-final round of the Texas 2A Championships featuring Kamy Cole and Brock 33-5 vs. San Saba 30-8.

1:30 Sharane Campbell and Star Spencer takes on Byng at Chickasha.

5:30 DaShawn Harden and her #1 5A St. Thomas Aquinas team takes on #5 5A Shawnee Mission Bishop Miege at the Pittsburg, Kansas high school.

My wife and I will be listening to the Brock game before heading to Pittsburg, Kansas to catch DaShawn's game.

If Brock wins their game today they will play in the championship game at 2:00 P.M. saturday and the game will be telecast on foxsportssouthwestplus.com . We will be at our grand daughters Bot-Ball contest at the time of this game so maybe Soonerhooper60 or someone esle will give a report of this game.

Brock beat San Saba so they are going to the championship game on saturday. Brock took an 11-5 lead after 1 period, but San Saba started hitting 3's in the 2nd. period and went into the half with a 23-16 lead over Brock.
San Saba pushed the lead to 11 points before ending the 3rd. period with a 28-21 lead. However, Brock turned up the defense and kept San Saba from making a field goal in the 4th. period and Kamy started hitting more of her shots and helped push Brock past San Saba for a 37-32 win.
Kamy Cole had 24 of Brock's points and was named the MVP of the game by the broadcasters.:woot

24 of 37 points will get you MVP every time!!! :clap

Thanks so much for the reports! They are greatly appreciated!

My wife and I attended DaShawn Harden's game his evening and got to meet DaShawn and her mother, both seem very friendly. DaShawn led off the scoring for Aquinas by hitting a 3 pointer, but Miege came to play and led after 1 period. Aquinas fought back and took a 1 point lead at the half.
Miege re-took the lead in the 3rd.period, but Aquinas ended the 3rd. period with another 1 point lead. Aquinas won the game by 3 points 38-35 and now goes to State in Topeka next week. DaShawn was the MVP of the game. Thanks to DaShawn and her mother for letting us meet you both.

Star Spencer beat Byng yesterday 41-29 and will play #6 Harrah at 6:30P.M. today in Chickasha. Star Spencer lost at harrah 61-49 in the 1st. round of the Regional Playoffs hopefully they will have a better qame being on a neutral court. The winner of this game goes to State.

#1 2A Brock plays #6 2A Winnsboro today at 2:00P.M. for the Texas 2A Championship. Good luck Brock on your quest for a three-peat. This game is being broadcast by FoxSouthwest.

Brock beat Winnsboro 47-26 to win the 2A State Championship. The announcers picked kamy Cole as the MVP as she made 21 points, shooting 40% from the field and 75% from the free throw line. She also had several rebounds and assists to go with her 1 block and 3 steals. 26 points is the fewest points a team has ever been held too in the 2A State Championship, great defense Brock!

A special thanks to DaShawn Harden and her mother for meeting with my wife and I after they won the Sub-State Championship yesterday. DaShawn and her Aquinas team will be at State in Topeka next week.

IMO ESPN Hoopgurlz has Kamy Cole rated way to low. On their web site she is listed as a 3 star player with a grade of 89 and is listed as the #50 guard. Several of you saw her play on TV yesterday, what do you think?
I have seen several players that are rated 4 star and in the top 20 of the guard positions and Kamy appears to be as good or better than any I've seem including Nicole Kornet, Courtney Walker, and Jordan Jones.
Kamy has led her team to wins over Nicole Kornet's Liberty Christian in 3 of their last 4 games and in the one 2 point loss, Kamy sat out the 4th. quater because she was recovering from an illness she had at the time.

Kansas State Tournament brackets have been released and DaShawn Harden and her #1 4A Saint Thomas Aqunias team (22-0) will take on unranked Highland Park (13-9) in the Quaterfinal round at 6:30 P.M. on wednesday at the expocentre in Topeka, Kansas.
If Aquinas wins they will then play at 6:30 P.M. on friday against the winner of the game between #7 Shawnee Heights (18-4) and #9 Bishop Carroll (16-6). The final is on saturday. Good luck DaShawn.

Afan we are blessed on this board for all the information you are able to give us on our commitments and potential recruits. It is a pleasure to read your reports, especially when it is from games you have seen in person.

So with that being said, here is my take on Kamy. Yesterday was the only time I have seen her play. From that, I think I see why she is so underated by hoopgurlz . She comes from a system with a coach that really knows how to develop players fundamentally, and teaches the art of team work. Kamy is an ultimate team player. When you see a kid that passes up shots for herself to pass to a team mate with a better percentage opportunity, that is a rare gem. She's not flashy, but fundamentally sound. She sacrifices herself for her team. Rebounds, follows shots, slashes to the rim, pretty fair free throw shooter, excellent defender, and all the other things you want from a player. As good as she is right now, I can only imagine what another year of experience will do for her. I haven't seen the other girls you have mentioned, but it looks to me that Sherri and staff know talent and kids that fit the profile they are looking for to continue success in the Sooner program. Glad we have Kamy coming to the Sooner state.

My wife and I have enjoyed seeing some of our players while still in high school and several of the players have seemed to be impressed that someone would drive for hours to come watch them play. Here is a list of the Future Sooners we got to watch play before coming to OU.

we saw
Rose Hammond at the State Tournament and 2 All-Star games.
Jenna Plumley at 2 All-Star games.
Jenny Vining at the Arkansas All-Star game.
Whitney Hand 3 games at Liberty Christian her senior year.
Nicole Griffen 2 Dvd's of her junior year and 1 dvd and 1 broadcast her senior year.
Then OU commit Courtney Walker 5 games last season.
Kaylon Williams 3 games her junior year and 2 so far this season.
Sharane Campbell 1 game so far this season.
Aaryn Ellenburg Web telecast of her State Tournament.
Jacqueline Jeffcoat 1 live game last season.
Alexanne Yancey 1 live game last season.
Kamy Cole 3 live games and 1 broacast her sophmore season and 1 live game and 1 broadcast her junior season. Also listened in on several fm-web cast games the past 2 seasons.

Hoping to get to watch more of our Future Sooners next week at the State Tournaments, then during the All-Star games, then summer camps and next season we want to go see Maddie Manning and Kamy Cole during their senior season.

The Oklahoma State Tournament brackets are out.

#1 6A Midwest City takes on #16 Enid at 3:30 thursday at Skiatook high school. The winner of that game will play at 1:30 on friday at ORU against the winner of the game between #11 Sand Springs and#3 Edmond Memorial and the final is at noon on saturday also at ORU.

Unranked Star Spencer takes on #1 Cache at 2:00 P.M. on thursday at Carl Albert high school. The winner of that game will play at 2:00 P.M. at the State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City against either unranked Wagoner or #4 Weatherford with the winner going to the final at 2:00 on saturday also at the fairgrounds.

Good luck to Kaylon and Sharane as they lead their teams through State.

Another look at OU commit Maddie Manning's junior year.
Manning averaged 16.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.9 steals, 2.9 turnovers, 2.2 personal fouls, shot 42.1 % from the field, 15.9% from 3 point, and 73.5% from the free throw line. Manning led her team to the State Quaterfinals were they lost to the #2 team by 1 point. Finishing 20-4.:clap
Her Ankeny team, another State Tournament team and conference foe Southeast Polk as well as State Champ Iowa City West all have at least their top 7 scorers back for next season.

Manning is one player that interests me. I look forward to seeing them all, but she impresses me.

Brock had 3 players make the All-Tournament team:

6' 0" Sr. Paige Parliament
5' 9" Jr. Kamy Cole
5' 11" So. Amy Henard

Kamy Cole was also selected as the MVP of the tournament!:woot
