Future Sooners

By the way, last year at camp Nicole Kornet was wearing OU socks while she played in a game. At yesterdays game she came in to warm-up before the game wearing a pair of OU shorts. Not that it means anything. Here's a clip of a Nicole Kornet free throw this past season - http://www.ihigh.com/vypedfw/video_894070.html

After watching Manning at the T.O.P. and team camps I think we are in good shape at guard with her and Cole coming in. If we could add Kornet and Swan to the 2012 class then I think we are going to stay competitive in the Big 12.

What's next for our future Sooners?

Kamy Cole will be playing for the Cy-Fair Hensle team according according to her mom Kay. Cy-Fair hasn't posted a list of tournaments that they will be in yet, but I think one of the tournaments nearest to Oklahoma that they will play in will be the 3rd. Annual Super 64Basketball Tournament that will be held in Frisco, Tx. July 5th.-8th.. The tournament is being presented by Premier Basketball Report.

If Maddie Mamming joins back up with her AAU team, the Kingdom Hoops Elite, then she will be playing in their next game that will be the USJN Premiere Invitational July 6-9 at Cincinnati, Ohio.

Goof Luck too Kamy Cole and Maddie Manning as they continue to improve their skills.

I don't know why the link is not working for you, but you can also get to it by going to OKblitz.com then clicking on girls basketball then enter Jenks into the search box.

I have always thought that Maddie would be a shooting guard or possibly a wing in college. However, with the recent reports, I now think she may be given a chance at the point. Her height would be a big plus at the point and she seems to have plenty of speed and quickness to play the position as well as defend it. Having someone who can play the 1, 2, or 3 effectively is rare. Should be interesting to see where Sherri plays her.

Here is what one fan from Iowa said about Maddie:

She has to be 6"0? Saw her leap one step, and was 3-4 inches over the rim. Saw review of her Chicago appearance, she is a bit on the thin side, but appears to be plenty competitive. I see her as a point guard in college

Here is what an ISU fan said about Maddie:

Maddie Manning has a big motor, is very competitive, and takes lots of pride in her defense. She will get better and better. She looked very good in a scrimmage against Ballard earlier, basically shutting down Greenfield. She's more aggressive than Taylor; doesn't mind the physical game.

The fan was talking about her defending Taylor Greenfield who signed with Stanford.

After watching Cole (*) and Manning (*) play I am excited about our chances of staying a very good team.
I'm hopeful that we can add Kornet (*) and Swan (*) to the 2012 class. They both were impressive at the camps.
Others I'd like to see OU try to get, but probably have a lesser chance at for 2012 are Alexis Jones from Texas and if our new coach Pam DeCosta has recruiting pull in California then maybe she could get us in on 6'0" Jordan Adams or 6'5" Iamni Stafford.
For 2013 I'd love for OU to get Jessica Washington (*) and she seems to like OU. I don't know if OU is trying for the 2 very gifted players from Arkansas, Tyler Scaife or Jessica Jackson, but either would be a great catch.
Other 2013 players I like in our nearby recruiting areas are Oklahomas 6"2" Jamie Rahilly (*), 6"4" Andrea Pickens from Texas, Kansas players 6'1" Taylor Ward and 5'9" Shelbe VanDeBerghe(*).
For the 2014 class I think we have at least a chance to get Brianna Turner(*).
For 2015 we probably have a chance at 6'7" Mc Cowan (*) and 6'4" Hearn Scaife (*) and 5'11" Brooke Alexander (*) would be a good catch. It wouldn't surprise me if Hanna and Rebecca Hand (*) become good players as well.
(*) = A player I've watched.

Youtube has alot of videos of Brooke Alexander. 8th Grade Liberty Christian. She looks like a good player on video.

5'7" Jessica Washington the top ranked 2013 recruit in the state has OU as one of her schools of interest and she seems to like several of the OU players, but there are other 2013 players to watch in Oklahoma as well.
I've watched 5'6" Teanna Reid of Milwood last season and she looks to have plenty of potential. She was a Honorable Mention player on the Oklahoman's Little All-City team. She is good in track too having a long distance jump 16' 4.50 and a 2 mile run time of 16:43.60.
6'0" Correy Moyer of 5A Skiatook averaged 14.0 points last season and was 2nd. team on the Tulsa World All-Metro team.
5'4" Shelbie Kirby averaged 16.9 points for 5A Collinsville and was selected to the 3rd. team on the Tulsa World All-Metro team.
5'8" Brai Pitts of Tulsa Central was a Honorable Mention player on the Tulsa World All-City team.
5'7" Christana Devers a point guard from Bixby that was 2nd. team All-Conference in the All-Frontier Conference.
5'5" Chasity Asberry of Tulsa's 4A Daniel Webster High. I have read that she wants to be a lawyer or a W.N.B.A. player. It's been reported that she would like to go to OU or Tulsa. She also plays softball and participates in cross country.
