GAME 18 - OKLAHOMA (11-6) vs #18 ALABAMA (12-5) 12:00pm CST on SECNETWORK

Ok this is just insane. Our primary goal was to get a midrange shot?? You have two viable options: play for a three to try to win the game, or try to drive it and get fouled or score at the rim. But nope, our coach wanted to set up a midrange shot.

Hell, given that, our players actually deserve credit for getting a decent look for the win.

I guess tiny credit to Loser for not pretending like Brown was fouled.

Loser is an idiot lol. Midrange is still not a good % shot unless you're the okc thunder

My first high school assistant coaching job was with this small school. The coach was an old timer. Been coaching there like 25 years. Anyways, he told me he was coaching the kids out of taking jump shots during games. We still practiced them, but he wanted either layups or threes during games. This was about five years ago.

I think more and more coaches are adopting that philosophy.

I can’t believe a jump shot was the designed play call for a last second shot

That new kid from Russia looks like a very good 3 point shooter and he's tall enough to shot over whomever is guarding him on the perimeter.
Could he have been a better option for that last shot or should I assume he wasn't even on the court at the time?

We could be 1-7heading into UT game. If we get to 1-8, I think Porter is let go before the second half of the sec season
There is no chance of that happening, Castiglione has never fired a coach midseason, even Castiglione waited until after the season to fire Capel as bad as he was

If we wanted a 2, then we should have kept Brown driving downhill. That might have been most optimal in general, but I felt like the timeout made sense in the context of what we had (hobbled Reid and fouled out Davis) left in the tank so we could try for the win. But if we didn’t want the win then the timeout made no sense IMO.

Wow I didn’t realize that Loser only played 7 guys. I’m on record saying that Forsythe isn’t that good but he’s been playing major minutes all year and in this game he got zero minutes. And on top of that, one of your best shooters, Atak, doesn’t see the floor either? Is he *trying* to get fired?

Forsythe was listed as questionable.

Pm has to go. But pack had a good look at the end. No idea if that was the plan, put if it was, players have to do the work as well.

We were up 11 at halftime and when the second half started Alabama dropped a 12-0 run on us before our brilliant coach decided to call a TO. Game over.

And lost by 18
And his team came back from a big first half deficit to take the lead before halftime, partially because he was willing (and smart enough) to use two timeouts. They lost because KU is a much better team with a generational talent at PG.

I’ve been wrong is saying we have no culture or identity under MMM. Our identity is that we are losers. I bet every opponent goes into games with us thinking a couple things. One, if we get a big lead, they’ll quit. Two, if it’s close late, they will fold in the clutch and their coach will not put them in the best position to win.

It’s just amazing how many times we make losing plays. Today, we had 7 turnovers in the first 37 mins. After we gave up six fast points to tie the game, MMM called timeout. Our next two possessions? Turnovers. Remarkable how often that happens. In games where we run good offense for most the game, we always bog down late. Ball and player movement stops, we dribble around, and fail to get clean looks.

And I don’t mean to bash Brown. He was great at the line today and has been all season. But be honest: how many people were confident he would hit all three to tie the game? When KU was in that position last week, there was no doubt they would go 3-3. Today, you just knew it wouldn’t happen for us. Losing culture just permeates the program under this yutz.

I watched it at the end of a fun day with my wife and kiddo, so didn't piss me off as much as it should have.

If his rotations and subs made sense, I would be all about it.

The thing is, our team has no real identity, we don't box out for s*** (Aside from Kirill), our offense is professional AAU ball, and we don't play hustle defense at all.

What is the point of a head coach if not to teach discipline on the boards, in an offense, and HUSTLING ON DEFENSE.

Not to mention, players don't improve under him, they just don't. I am over it, complete waste of some years and excitement in the SEC.

Not arguing your points on the team or Moser, but the Brown FT comment is ridiculous. I fully expected him to make all 3, he’s 89% on the year and is 96% at the LNC. You didn’t say anything about it until after he missed. If you were so certain he was gonna miss one, we all know you..you would have said as much. You’re going out of your way there. Now if the question was did any of us think we’d score to either tie it or win it with a 3 at the end…I totally get that, and would have agreed. In the end, he’s human and did miss one (barely). The bigger issue was that our starting backcourt was 11-35 from the field, and 3 of 14 from 3. And that’s from two guys who have shot 45% & 35% from there on the season. That’s 21%…that was the game imo.
