The buyout at the end of the season is $5.3M.
And that is my biggest concern. With an easier schedule in the back half, can he get enough wins to be "respectable" in Denny's eyes, with having some likeability and energy? And if the team continues to play hard? I think it has to get in the tourney to salvage his job, and that probably means 7-8 more wins, or 4 in Nashville. Both scenarios almost impossible. But does he do "just enough"? Not saying he deserves it- he doesn't- but does a new AD come in and fire him 3 weeks into the job?
Because if he does, he's going to have to find a way to raise $5.3M to buy him out, likely $4-5M for a new coach, increased $$ for staff, and a higher NIL budget for a new coach, probably demanding at least $6-8M. A lot of money to raise for a guy less than a month on the job.
The flip side is he probably will have an even more difficult time raising money/NIL money if he keeps him. I think PM has lost the BMDs and fans' support, regardless of what Denny may think or any grace period he could be willing to give. The NC State example applies perfectly here- don't let one month influence five years of evidence.
moser's contract will likely be paid out over time.....not a lump sum payment.
and they won't pay $4-$5mil for a new coach/staff.
