GAME 33 - OKLAHOMA (20-12) vs KENTUCKY (21-10) 8:30pm CST on SEC NETWORK

PM clapped Pope up last year when they were at comparable programs. Now Pope is at the best program of all time with a budget 5-10x what ou has and could only win by 2 points total in 2 games.
And he won

faceguard oweh for one...then the defender doesn't get picked off, put Wag on the inbound pass to make it more difficult to throw it in...good lord it isn't that difficult.
1) You faceguard Oweh and you pick up a foul and everyone is screaming about it.
2) Wague would have fouled on the play and everyone would be screaming about it.

It's SUPER easy to second guess coaching in that situation. Everyone was set up for success. They just didn't execute.

There are things Porter does that I don't understand. But he's taken WAY too much heat for the situation we're in.

Next year is another story and I think we are right back here commenting on the same things we have commented on the past 4 years. I still hate the state of the program.

But I have really enjoyed our recent wins and enjoyed most of the game last night. I just want to enjoy it before I start so much bitching again.
yup, with replacing all 5 starters and 3 off the bench...another crappy year I'm guessing.

Yeah it’s super easy to say “take the worst defender in the SEC out of the game and don’t put 4 guys at halfcourt in no man’s land so their best player can catch the ball with a full head of steam and go lay it in.” You’re right, it’s easy.

What you DON’T do is put 4 guys at halfcourt. Why???

I can agree that the personnel and play design were not good. The play was there to be made, however. Jalon Moore should have swatted that shot into the stands. He had the perfect angle. He decided to nonchalantly float out of bounds instead.

How about osu in football? The team ou has beaten about 90% of the time.

Also, why do you think ou football is going to have to reset? Is it because you don’t think ou can outspend other teams now? In other words, the NIL matters significantly.
Idk what you mean by the first paragraph.

Sure nil matters. And yes, we won't be able to compete especially in the long term in football nil.. which means even more that we need a football coach that understands clock management and a feel for the game... just like we need a bball coach that can inbound the ball, guard the other teams best player, ect. None of those things depend on nil or having the elite talent..

He’s an uber-athlete who plays like he’s 5 foot 9. He’s never been a rim defender though.

If we had better NIL Oweh would have been playing beside Fears instead of against him,
That’s true, but even if nothing changes but the head coach, we would’ve beat Kentucky both times this year despite our NIL failures. If we bump the NIL a little, we beat them by double digits both times with a better coach.

This idea that we’ll never compete unless we match what everyone else is paying is total bull****. Find a great coach and go to work. I will concede that we’ll never win a national title in basketball. If we get our **** together and find a great coaching staff, we can get back to where we have historically been. We have enough NIL for that and there’s potential for more NIL with the right coach.

LOL...your "scenario" is just as valid as mine...

1. Faceguard him..(didn't say hold him) I said put a body BETWEEN him and the inbounder
2. Wag jumping up and down against the inbounder doesn't create a foul it creates a "block" to an easy throwin...

we NEEDED 1 sec to go off the clock..ONE...

Just absolute la la land.

Return Dayton, Miles, Wague & Nwankwo, add the two recruits. Fill the holes in the portal. We should be decent. But the SEC will be brutal again.

lol in your mind face guarding is an automatic foul? Again, go watch how Stanford denied Louisville last night. And they did it for 20 seconds. All we needed was five seconds of competent strategy and execution.

OU can’t rely on Jalon Moore for anything right now. And I don’t blame Moser for that. But it’s sad how far that kid has fallen.

I don't disagree. But it's SUPER easy to second guess coaching when the players don't execute.
