Game 8- SEC/ACC Challenge #21 OKLAHOMA (7-0) vs. GEORGIA TECH (4-3) 8pm CST on ESPNU

Dominated the second half. Only 7 turnovers. Lackluster start and they responded to win easily. Poor Wichita. Better luck next time

What I felt best about the game last night was the halftime ADJUSTMENTS. Many of us had a bad feeling OU would come out flat due to an Atlantis hangover, but they fought back. Winning games when you aren't at your best is always a great sign.

I can't wait to see what kind of player Fears is going to be come March. While I'm not going to compare him to Carmelo Anthony, I am reminded of the 2002-2003 season which I saw in person OU's first and last games. When we played Alabama at MSG to open the season, the first game on the agenda was Syracuse vs Memphis (won by the Tigers). I was later at the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games in Albany. Watching Carmelo play, I was like "That is not the same player I saw in November".

I know that with foul trouble in the first half last night, Moser would never keep Fears out of the game too long before re-inserting him. In my long experience watching college basketball, that's uncommon for someone who just turned 18 years old and gets in foul trouble. They usually end up sitting next to the coach for an extended period of time, and that includes the Burger Boys.

Wow it’s almost comical at this point.
What? That you only post when we are doing bad? I agree.

I've resorted to reading the game threads after the fact because it is so comical to see everyone freak out.
And it is very easy to see your gimmick. SOmeone could graph it if they wanted. You literally only post when we are not playing well. Maybe in the midst of a great run, you will pick out the one negative think and post about it. And then you are silent again until the run is over.

Like clock work.

What I liked from the game is we ended up shooting very well from 3 and FT.
We out rebounded them (after all the bitching) and only turned it over 7 times while recording 8 steals

It is pretty clear that this team takes ball control seriously. Once Fears starts cutting down on his, we will be exceptional.

It wasn’t our freshman who had a turnover issue last night. One guy had nearly half our TOs.

Shoutouts to @BoulderSooner. Thank you for having this forum. It's such a getaway from the awfulness of SS right now.

6-6 season, mediocre recruiting class, and leadership's vision being in question? This is such a nice getaway. We're a basketball school officially.
Well I wouldn't go so far as to say we are a basketball school yet. Let's wait and see if we make the tournament. We were riding high this time last year as well. I do agree with your overall sentiment though!

Hes the best. To everybody, there is a donation link stickied as a post. Boulder does all of this on his own dime. 👍

We've never won a tournament that mattered like the Maui and the BFA. The other tournaments we've won in the past, I did not feel like this afterwards. It was oh, cool. We beat Seton Hall, random school that is okay at best, and another okay at best basketball school.

Even with the struggles it DOES kinda seem like the basketball program is heading in a better direction than the football team. Obviously it all depends on if they make the tournament. If they do then sign Moser an extension and keep the momentum. Worst case scenario for us fans is a new basketball coach next year and a new football coach the year after.

Beating, what we thought, was a good Iowa and USC team in last year’s tournament felt pretty dang good. But I agree, nothing like the Maui. Credit to Moser for doing it.

These tournaments where we play two teams and that's it don't feel like tournaments to me. Lol. Maybe that's just me.

Speaking of, I listened to a pod yesterday with two well-known and respected college hoops reporters and they think that the 3-game tourneys, including Maui and Atlantis, may have to change their formats soon because apparently a lot of coaches don't like playing 3 games in those events. They said the coaches and schools don't want to give up that many home games, since they lose out on revenue. As a fan, I sure hope they are wrong. I agree with you -- two-game events just don't have the same juice, even if all four teams are good.

Fair enough! For me it has to do with matchups. I thought Iowa and USC were gonna be tournament teams last year so those wins were huge. I’d rather OU beat two tournament teams in a small tournament versus beating three non tournament teams in a bigger tournament.

Don’t mess with feast week! Those tournaments are awesome!
