Game day OU vs TCU

What is going on with McNeace? He looks healthy but then he doesn’t. He had the ball deep a few times and then kicks it out or does nothing with it.

We looked like a better team when he was on the bench today.

Hats off to Doolittle and James today. They led this team to a victory down the stretch.

Next game with KSU is also going to be a battle. Need to keep holding serve and then pull out at least one of next 2 on the road.

One poster wanted us to inform the league. For gawds sake.....we won the game.

Storm I said that, and if you knew many many times coaches and administration contact the league. If you don’t check them they will continue and it is a process that happens on a regular basis. I promise you OU will send a tape of the problems to the league and have them reviewed with a follow up conference call - it happens a bunch

Didn't get to watch the game, but TCU had a guy 8-12 from three? Just a good shooting night or bad defense?

defense wasn't that bad ... a few were wide open ... he was just en fuego. he's a deadeye.

A couple of tidbits from the radio postgame:

TCU had 17 offensive rebounds to OU's 4, but they scored just 8 second-chance points to OU's 7. The guys kept battling, even when they couldn't secure the rebound.

And attendance, Toby Rowland said, was 8,005.

A video of the technical called on CJ was definitely league worthy. That might have been one of the worst calls I have ever seen. You can see a half dozen plays like that and worse in every game. He was also called for traveling on a perfectly legal step through drive down the lane for a layup.

On the whole, I don’t have much of a problem with the officiating. But, that doesn’t change the fact that there were some real stinkers in this game.

I did not have a problem with the officiating overall. In fact, I thought to myself several times that this game was about 50x more fun to watch than Bedlam last weekend because Bedlam's officiating was so atrocious. However, CJ's technical was a terrible, inexcusable call. Not only was it just incorrect, but it stopped arguably the biggest momentum we had all day (after the Brady slam) and gave TCU 2 FTs and the ball. They mad the 3 and immediately had the lead again.

Good point, Mont! That why horrible calls like that should not be ignored, especially when you win the game. Lose and a complaint to the league might be viewed as sour grapes.

13 of those were in first half and almost all were due to helping and leaving their big to clean up. Second half was much better D. I agree that we kept battling. We had 1 offensive rebound at halftime.

McNeace need to get back into playing shape, you can't sit as much as he has because of his injury and play the full game at full strength.

It's because we are. We defend better and our rebounding is improved because our weak-side is not exposed nearly as often.

Jamuni's absence also provides Doo with much more room to operate in the post. I like seeing Kristian get the ball up top with a chance to make some reads to either drive or dish. Very tough to defend.

agreed. they are much better defensively with the last lineup sans McNeace. That first half of getting our butts whooped on the boards was partially a result of that. I mean do you always give the last starter his job back immediately when he's healthy? I wont question Lon's methods because he knows better than I do. I just wonder what I'm missing.

I think one of the main reasons that McNease started was the size of TCU....they are a really big, long team. It also appears that they were feeding McNease in the post quite a bit to try and establish a rhythm with him. Unfortunately, I thought our half-court offense bogged down at times when we tried to run the offense through him. I think he has the ability to be a good energy guy coming off the bench when we need a spark. But I prefer the Manek/Doo/CJ/Calixte/MR starting lineup a little better.

Couldnt agree more. thats exactly the lineup I prefer. I think our defense is much better there. But I can see what you're saying about their size. their frontcourt is pretty large. Doolittle had to pull out some karl malone to move a little buttocks around in there. They're good on the boards.

Hmm. I’d say he hasn’t sat long enough.
