Game day OU vs TCU

I’m not sure CJ complains more than anyone else. It may just be that he’s so big and strong that the refs don’t appreciate the contact. Every time someone touches him he probably needs to throw his head back and wave his arms like he’s been shot like Marcus Smart and James Harden.

Didn't get to watch the game, but TCU had a guy 8-12 from three? Just a good shooting night or bad defense?

The defense left him on a couple in the 1st half. In the 2nd, he drilled 1 from about 23 w a guy right in his face. Then he made back to back 3's right at the end that could have won them the game when our defense got screwed up on the pick & pop. Ironically, when we were up 3 w about 10 seconds left they ran it again & both of our guys went w Noi & Alex Robinson hit the 3 to tie it up.

They've got to communicate better on those pick & pops in the future bc those mistakes nearly cost the team the game.

Not sure how 8-12 from deep can be anything but good shooting...

At least 4 wide open looks that I can recall. On 1, after hitting back to back 3's in the 1st half, someone drove & I think James was guarding Noi. James left Noi to reach in okn the driver, he passed out to Noi & he drilled the 3. Mind you, this was right after he'd just hit 2 in a row. You cannot leave good shooters. That's why the shot blocker inside is so important but shooters today are so good -- & Noi is 1 of the best -- you cannot leave him for anything.

(Actually, that play might've been in the 2nd half, but whatever...don't leave shooters!)

I never worry about the officiating. No point in it nothing we post will change or make the ref do anything, just take the win and be happy.

Worry about it, not worth it.

Complain about it, game on.

You don’t have time to worry about the officials. You spend most of your time complaining about our players, the coaches and the team. How does that change anything?

Why not take your own advice and accept the fact that everyone can’t be perfect like you? Take the win and the good things they do and be happy!

I do very little complaining about our players, coaches and the team. Now if you talking about the women ...then yes I do complain about the coach. But I do far far far less talking about the players or Lon. I'm not gonna whine and cry about the refs...as I said no point in it. I know its the same ones over and over each and every game..regardless on how its called. If that gets me ban..then so be it

I did not have a problem with the officiating overall. In fact, I thought to myself several times that this game was about 50x more fun to watch than Bedlam last weekend because Bedlam's officiating was so atrocious. However, CJ's technical was a terrible, inexcusable call. Not only was it just incorrect, but it stopped arguably the biggest momentum we had all day (after the Brady slam) and gave TCU 2 FTs and the ball. They mad the 3 and immediately had the lead again.

The NCAA management of basketball officiating is doing everything it can to ruin the game. Hard for me to blame the refs, I blame those managing the game and stressing enforcement of asinine ideals.

Every sport is better when you see less of the officials, I think the NCAA is about to start selling advertisements on the back of officials heads and jerseys, that’s the only logical explanation as to why we spend so much time looking at them in every single game. It drives me nuts.

It would be the first time the ncaa was honest about their intentions

I’m just getting to watch the broadcast now

The technical on James was the biggest trash call of the season

I’m glad I was booing

Reynolds didn’t have sht for stats but his second half defensive effort was paramount

Just watched the game. Defensive effort through the whole 2nd half, except for the terrible miscommunication on Robinson’s 3. I’m assuming they were supposed to switch, saw Calixte get mixed up a few times. Glad Muni is back but ready for him to play better on the boards. Doolittle is turning into the best player, James is playing solid though.

It looks like after a player complains, some officials will pay special attention and there is so much contact in the game now it is not hard to find something to call. I felt that happened to James after he complained in the Texas Tech game. Kind of petty on the part of the officials but some people put their pride ahead of doing the right thing.

I'm a little late with this, but I feel the need to defend Muni just a little regarding something that more than one poster opined:

Contrary to popular belief, Muni did not always kick the ball out when he could have made moves to the basket. Almost every time McNeace was singled teamed, he did make a move and get a shot off. He kicked the ball out almost every time a double team came. I actually thought that was a wise choice.

On the other hand: Did he play particularly well? No! I'm with the consensus on that point.

It seems to me the problem with officials rest with the administators. TV and the public want a higher scoring more offensive game. To accomplish this administrators tell officials to call it loose like Saturday's game with only I think only 8 fouls called in the first half of a very physical game.

When refs call it loose the officiating varies immensely from game to game based on the subjective view point of the ref that night. I suggest what needs to happen is the administrators need to change the rules to specifically allow what they want to transpire on the court to allow more scoring.

Then they need to charter the officials to call the game to the absolute letter of the rules. No variation. Call the game tight per the very loose rules. Doing so would make the officiating more consist from game to game and provide players a better understanding of how the game is going to be called.

The refs should not be chartered with accomodating the desires of the TV moguls with their officiating. They should be enforcing the rules as they are written. Change the rules if you want the game played differently and in doing so get a better quality of reffing.

There has to be a balance. You dont want bedlam part 2 with 48 foul calls. But you dont want 8 either. there is a balance needed.

From Eric Bailey: Kristian Doolittle's game winner in final seconds vaults Sooners over TCU

“Give him credit,” TCU coach Jamie Dixon said. “He hit the big play down the stretch. They went to him like we thought. We thought we had the right matchup, but it didn’t turn out that way.”

Doolittle ended with 24 points and 10 rebounds in the key battle between Associated Press Top 25 programs. On a day when four Big 12 teams won on the road, the No. 23 Sooners were the only program to leave its home court with a victory.

“As you expect with any Big 12 game, a big-time battle,” OU coach Lon Kruger said.

Doolittle described the eventual game-winning shot that fell with 2.8 seconds remaining.

“Coming out of the timeout, I knew the play that was called for me,” Doolittle said. “It was really just a read because we had Christian (James) in the corner. If I drove and his man helped, it was going to go to Christian. Once I took my first dribble, I realized they weren’t going to help, so I just went from there.”

I think McNeace often waits too long to make his move to the basket. Maybe he's just a little slower from nor having played much recently. But he seems to hold the ball & then the double team arrives & he does turn it over too often. When he has good position, just shoot the jump hook. Like Doolittle earlier in the year, he needs to be more aggressive. Hopefully that comes with getting back in the rhythm of the game.
