Hoping OU can bring home the National Championship banner as me and all of Cyclone Nation are pulling for you. You've had a great run. And Buddy got screwed in player of the year voting. He was hands down the best this year. Good luck this weekend.

thanks, but I doubt the "Cyclone Nation" is rooting for OU (LOL). Some maybe cause they see Buddy as their Niang, good kid who stayed 4 years got better...

I know I would "pull" for a big 12 team (besides ku) to win it...but wouldn't be upset if they didn't.

Hopefully we can pull it off...I feel better about Nova but man unc looks crazy good....but that's why they play!

So now you're pulling for Bucky and the Floor-Slappers?

Trust me when I say that most of all of us Cyclones always pull for OU except when we play them or when it might affect our standings. Lon Kruger is a good guy to root for and of course this year with Buddy coming back it was easy. I would say maybe half the fans here wouldn't cheer for KU if they were playing Russia but we pull for every other Big 12 team to go far. Now cheering for OU football isn't quite as easy because your coach is an ex-Hawkeye and that would be like you guys pulling for an ex Okie St. player in the coaching world. But generally we pull for Big 12 teams to do good when we don't play them and I can guarantee you that Iowa State fans respect OU basketball more than any other school in the conference.

Thanks for stopping by, Cyclone_81. People ask me all the time if there is any Big XII team I can get behind besides OU. ISU is the only team I can definitively root for. Your fan base is second to none. Plus, we Sooner fans still owe you a bit of gratitude for those Marcus Smart flops a couple of years back. Great stuff!

I talked to a couple dozen Cyclone fans in Chicago last weekend and every single one of them said they were pulling for us to win it all. Kansas, no, but they were Oklahoma fans.

I always thought the same thing until the Big 12 tournament this year. I think it holds true if they are sober but they love their beer and when they get drunk they like to fight and vandalize.

The old man KU fan sitting by me the night OU played ISU turned to me and said "have you ever been to a game with mostly ISU fans?".
I said "no".
He said, "they like to fight, so be careful".

First time down the floor, Niang travels, as he does every time, and I holler "he walked" and the ISU fan turned around and mouthed something at me that wasn't pleasant.

I realize it offends many of our posters when one of us says anything even remotely critical of ISU fans. But I've spent enough time perusing the ISU basketball forums that I'm convinced Cyclone fans are no friends of OU basketball.

And if anyone wants to say those forum guys are not typical ISU fans, I don't believe it for a second.

Bad fans in every crowd. I apologize for any drunk ones who may have offended. I was definitely one of the drunk ones but my wife was pissed at all the drinks I was buying for some OU fans after the game. She wasn't pissed I was buying drinks...pissed at how drunk I was. That game started way too late. And I sure as hell wouldn't go by what a KU fan said. My 14 year old daughter was in tears from a KU fan behind us years ago in KC. And about the Niang traveling....yeah he shuffles his feet occasionally just like the best shooter in college this year occasionally pushes off with his left arm. They both are playing in the gray area and most refs won't call it.

14,500 people at Hilton Coliseum and you are going to go by what 4 or 5 on a free message board say. You can think whatever you want....I know the truth.

Love the fans on this message board. The refs are always unfair to OU, and everyone elses fan bases are full of drunks and rapscallions.

The only fan bases I've ever heard OU fans say they like are Nebraska fans and Alabama fans, which not coincidentally are programs that we've owned.

No, more like 20 or 30 pages of insults on every OU-ISU pre-game thread.

By the way, I have no problem with ISU's team or coach. ISU plays an exciting brand of basketball and the players seem to be good kids. Sorry, but I can't say the same for most Cyclone fans.

LOL. If you say a free message board is an indicator of the whole Iowa State fanbase then you have a unrealistic view of the power of message boards. Trust me....there are supposed fans on our message board who I have no time for and are not true fans. The great majority are not like that. Like I said...think what you want.

Incorrect. I've dealt with NU fans in Lincoln and in Kansas City at Arrowhead Stadium. I didn't care much for them either place. Just like ISU fans, a bunch of drunks who like to fight.

Oddly enough, I've never had issues with KU or Mizzou fans but I don't particularly like KU fans except this year they were very nice at the Big 12 tourney. They love Hield and Kruger...I've never seen KU fans so overtly cheering for anything OU until this year.

I'm guessing you have never traveled to other stadiums or campuses outside the state of Oklahoma (or Texas)? I will tell you I generally keep my mouth shut and cheer for my team. In Lincoln, 2005, my 9 year old son and I were leaving the stadium after the game. He had ahold of my belt loop as I was walking thru crowds to get to our car. An old lady NU fan tells me to "F--- off". I turn around thinking she was talking to someone else and her son who was about my age threatens to kick my a$$. Not a single NU fan, and we had probably 20 around us, said one word to the guy. I understand every fanbase has bad apples and the guy threatening to fight me didn't bother me much but the fact 20 NU fans in the area who saw and heard it said nothing, to me, that was telling of how their fan base has become. They were great fans when they were winning but now they are in the crapper -- and they were bad that year -- they aren't so great.

I've seen OU fans bother visiting fans and I have seen other OU fans tell them to shut up or at least take up for the visitors.

Don't know about you, but I don't believe message boards have any power. And why do you keep referencing "free" message boards? Are posters somehow a better class of idiot if they have to pay for the privilege of posting?

I've formed my opinion of ISU fans by reading, over and over, on their fan forums the vile and ugly comments they continually make about the OU basketball program and certain Sooner players.

Man we re a feisty bunch right now aren't we. Hope we can make the Big 12 proud.

I know some clone fans as well, and they do not root for OU. All I said was you said "cylone nation" is rooting for ou...really doubt that. Out of those 14K I would guess MAYBE 200 would pull for OU...

You can root all ya want. Thanks...
