Good read on Sam Grooms helping build foundation at OU for Kruger

good article. I was always a fan of sam's. thought he wasn't appreciated for what he did. 3:1 assist turnover ratio in the big 12 is great.

Thanks for posting that article. Sam is an great example of how Coach Kruger recruits the right kind of players and people. I'm grateful for what he did in his years here and thrilled that he's started his career as a coach.

People tend to not appreciate the role players here. They love the starters and the young kids waiting in the wings, but the Sam Grooms, Tyler Neal's and Dijynil Walker's of the world have their contributions overlooked or derided.

I will always remember him going off at osu in Buddy's freshman year. Buddy was out with an injury, osu had a real good squad, and he gave everything to get that game to overtime. We eventually lost, but Sam was 9-11 for 18 points, 4 assists, 2 turnover off the bench, and we aren't in that game without him.

I have appreciated the effort of all 3. Neal and Grooms both played a lot (starters) and impacted games, and Walker had an impact on a lot of games too. I've been critical of Walker because I feel like James should have been getting those minutes because he has shown for the last 6 weeks he was capable of being better than Walker. I was looking to March when I made those comments, but I will gladly admit I'm not a coach and would never resemble one. Lon knows what he's doing but as a fan I have an opinion. :lon

Yeah, I remember that too.

Was his last game the loss to San Diego State or North Dakota State? I can't remember.
