I know, the selection exercise in the article is hypothetical and effected by (at least helpfully disclaimed) arbitrary historical criteria, but the capsule on the Sooners is interesting. By the "committee's" ranking, we're the highest - ranked 3 seed due to our 10-4 record against RPI top-50 teams. I didn't realize our win% against the RPI was that strong til I saw the numbers.

Makes you think, if we show strong in the Big 12 tournament, we could play our way up to a 3 seed for March... or maybe a 2 if we win outright.

Be nice to avoid a letdown after a big win, just one time this year. No doubt.

We beat Butler after we defeated UCLA (it was a big win at the time and will still serve us well at tourney selection time). We stomped #10 texas in Austin after beating #22 Baylor. We gave #11 KU all they wanted on the road after beating #24 oswho. We stomped #15 WVU after sweeping oswho in Stillwater. We rolled over #14 ISU after a solid win over TCU (not a "big" win, I know, but given how many of our fans were sweating that game in Ft. Worth, I say it counts).

We've had more good outings after big wins than bad ones. But this season -- and it baffles me, I have to say -- many of our fans are more focused on our losses than our wins. It seems many have all but missed a really fun season, so intent are they in focusing on the negatives.

Agreed, furge. And we could hang our heads in shame if we went to Lubbock and got beat by the sorriest team in the conference.

Edit: You're right also, skyvue. We HAVE followed some nice wins with wins.

We have an amazing number of quality win this season. As long as we win the ones we should from here on out then we'll have a resume that very few teams can match. Historically the selection committee cares a lot about quality wins and that bodes well for OU.

Thanks for posting furge. I enjoy reading articles that give a lay of the land as I know there is no issue with me as a fan looking ahead. Some people take being a fan too seriously.

Exactly. We as fans can speculate about anything we want to.....and it has absolutely no effect on anything. Yet you would think the opposite if you listened to a few posters on this board. As fans, we don't have to be focused on the next game, that is the team's job.
