Gabby Gregory’s reputation as a scorer preceded at Oklahoma. The former Holland Hall star was expected to contribute immediately when she arrived on campus this fall.

“She can get to the rim whenever she wants to,” OU junior Ana Llanusa said before the season.

Gregory lived up to the praise Tuesday in OU’s 78-65 win over Abilene Christian at Lloyd Noble Center.

The freshman guard scored a career-high 18 points off 5-of-6 shooting and 2-of-2 from behind the 3-point line.

Taylor Robertson (21 points) and Madi Williams (17) also shouldered the scoring load on a night Llanusa went cold, making just 2 of 13 shots from the field and 1 of 5 from 3.

OU (4-2) held Abilene Christian (4-1) without a field goal for the final 2:55. The Sooners led by as many as 16 points down the stretch after letting the lead dip to 42-39 with 5:13 left in the third quarter.

Tough girl played through pneumonia and just now feeling ok. She is athletic enough to be able to guard unlike some of our players. Mercer is not playing well lately maybe she is sick also.
