Grooms does a decent job of course with his low TO ratio BUT he consistantly let #11 by him which set up dunks or pass outs from open 3's. I hope Kruger brings in a whole bunch of new guys - our Talent level is way down. I think Kruger is probably doing the best he can with the talent level that was handed to him.

And Grooms won't take an outside shot so it allows them to hug Pledger and not leave him. Only having one 3 point option REALLY kills us - among other things.

I am pretty sure OU is going with Grooms and Blair at the point next season so hopefully they will improve.

I really hope Kruger gets Stevie Clark, Juwan Parker and Jordan Woodard in this next class. OU would then have two pgs and three guys that are 6-4 capable of playing in the backcourt for the 2013/14 season. Tyler Neal and Clark will also be on that team adding some height to the perimeter if it is needed. OU will also need some post players but the Sooners have plenty of scholarships available and maybe Henry will get his act together.

No doubt about it, an influx of talent is mandatory if we're to have any chance of a return to the top half of the Big 12 conference. I believe we'll be a better team with M'Baye, Hornbeak and Hield available nexst year. But if our two point guards don't work hard on their weaknesses in the off season, we may not realize our full potential.

Carl can score and he's not all that bad on defense. Sam does a good job of controlling the ball and running the offense. But he's so inconsistent as an offensive threat, our opponents know they can commit a defender to a double-team and leave him open to shoot from anywhere he chooses.

Our deficiencies in talent don't stop there, though. They're at every position if you look for them.

Speaking of defense, last year we were 8th in the Big 12 in PPG allowed with 71. This year we are dead last giving up 73ppg in a year where A&M, Tech, Texas and OSU are all down and having trouble scoring, especially A&M/Tech.

Funny that so many blamed Capel for our struggles, labeled Cade an unathletic player that wouldnt start for most big 12 teams, annointed Kruger our savior after a 9-1 start against unranked teams, and compared Grooms to guys like Quannis White, yet we are actually worse than we were last year! Not only are we worse defensively, but we have a worse record in the Big 12.

Reminds me of all the people blaming Landry Jones for our struggles in football. It will be interesting to see if the next QB is as good or better than Landry has been. If Jones wins a bowl game this year it will be pretty tough for the next QB to win 5 in 4 years. Don't think that's ever been done before. :)

Giving up two more points per game compared to last year isn't the whole story. Last year's offense was a lot more slow paced and often wouldn't shoot the ball until under 10 on the shot clock. This team, while not uptempo, certainly plays at a faster offensive pace which is going to result in more possessions for the opposing team giving them more opportunities at the bucket. So, with that in mind, a two point differential renders your points mostly invalid.

Hopefully Sam will learn to take advantage of defenders doing that. He needs to learn to step in a foot or two and knock down the shot. His form isn't horrible and has shown an ability to hit a 16-17 footer.

If I were his coach, I would have him working on hitting that shot from the key and if the post comes to defend it, hit the offensive post player for an easy bucket.

A few hundred shots every day this summer on his own could do wonders for Sam's game next season. If a player wants to get better, they have to spend time working on their own in the off season to improve their weaknesses Is he willing to make that sacrifice? Wish I new.

Blair, on the other hand, should dribble a ball everywhere he goes until it's like a part of his body. So what if someone laughs? Better that than to dribble the ball off of your foot or leg in front of a television audience.

We are not worse defensively. Please go learn how statistics work before throwing out a single stat, and trying to make claims.

I don't believe we are worse defensively...but we sure the hell aren't any better. Grooms obviously is not that great of a defender. The guy needs to learn not to go under screens when guarding a shooter.

And I don't care what Grooms stats are...His assist are up b/c he always passes the ball b/c he can't shoot it.

Catch 22. Grooms has good numbers. He does past most of the time but it's not like he's passing to Blake Griffin and Hollis Price out there.

I agree. When I said his coach, I am assuming the coaches tell the guys what to work on in the offseason.

He didn't win 'em all, but FWIW, there's only one player believed to have ever played in 5 bowl games; a guy named Chuck Long.
