I’m trying to think of whether we have ever had a guard who is as bad a ball handler and who also makes such bad decisions. I can’t believe Porter doesn’t shackle him when it comes to handling the ball.

I said that last year and was lambasted about it. Guy has heart and hustle but his handles are a no show.

Oh trust me, I was right there with you. And I got heat too because so many people like his effort that they can’t acknowledge his obvious offensive weaknesses.

Harkless does a lot of good things when he’s not trying to do too much. Last year, he mixed it up in the paint, got tough rebounds and put backs, and played tough defense. This year, he’s trying to be a scorer and that’s not him. He shoots way too much and dribbles way way too much.

Between Goldwire and Harkless this will continue to be a problem. This is Goldwire's 5th year in college, and Harkless' 4th year...they are who they are at this point. Need Bijan to run the show moving forward, give me freshman lumps over 4th/5th year senior lumps.

I think the tough part is that we are a team that has a real shot at making the tournament, so you can’t fully go into “play for the future” mode. And today, the main issue wasn’t our point guard. We probably could have played Cortes and Goldwire together more today to get Harkless off the floor, but we have so many guys turning the ball over that it’s hard to know who the main culprit will be in any given game. I agree that Harkless is always going to be a turnover machine because he always has been. Goldwire was a very low turnover guy at Duke, but he apparently is having a hard time adjusting to a role where more is expected of him. At Duke, he was basically out there to run the offense and not screw things up.

I’d say also being at duke offers a couple of other things…#1 he played with his teammates longer #2 he had better teammates….

I like our guys but guessing not many would start at duke.

9 new guys, learning a new offense, new coach and expectations, toughest conference in america. The only consistency in the big 12 will be inconsistency. We played horrible and lost by 1 in OT on the road to TCU. Lots of other teams are going to lose there this year. Just get to 9 wins in conference. I don't care where they come.

This is a spot on post. We have little continuity with so many new guys and a new coach. I'm not worried. We will improve

The turnovers can’t just be attributed to roster turnover. Lots of teams are in that situation this year. And our team last year had a new point guard plus two starting guards in their first year in the program, and they were one of the lowest turnover teams in the country. Plus, the kind of the turnovers we are committing aren’t the kind that are caused by lack of familiarity. It’s not like we are throwing passes to spots where we expect guys to be and they aren’t there. We are putting our head down and driving into traffic and getting the ball stolen, or charging rather than jump stopping. Those are things high school kids know not to do.

I have confidence the team will improve, and think we only need 8 conference wins to make it. But after 17 games, I don’t think the turnovers are going away. I think that’s who we are this year.

I was referring mainly to Goldwire :

"Goldwire was a very low turnover guy at Duke, but he apparently is having a hard time adjusting to a role where more is expected of him. At Duke, he was basically out there to run the offense and not screw things up."

Geez. Harkless is awful. The dudes a turnover machine. They have to play Nolan more.

Two games in a row his defensive miscue led to the crippling three.

He’s doing more harm than good at this point. I’m not sure what can be done.

You can stop playing him so many minutes. Play Nolan more

Noland would have played more in the second half if not hurt. But as I said in game thread, could have also played Bijan and Goldwire together more. No coincidence that our run to get back in it came with Harkless on the bench.

But moser will continue to play harkless… almost guarantee it. We’ll see

Over this 3 game losing streak he's combined for 8 FGs and 11 TOs. A lot of factors in every game, but we win the last two if he's even average instead of the unplayable that we've gotten.

With Noland out. We don’t really have any other options. Noland is a freshman and does freshman things, although I can live with that
