We can pretty much count on production from Reaves, Manek, and Gibson if he becomes eligible.... but what about these two? They are likely starters taking on very different roles with Bienemy and Doolittle gone. From a production standpoint, what would you expect to see from both?

Devion Harmon
7.4 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2 assists per game. 36% from field, 34% from 3, 70% from line. 28 minutes per game.

Kur Kuath
3.4 points, 2.1 rebounds per game. 65% from field, 64% from line... 10 minutes per game.

Harmon has to get more assists! I was very disappointed in his ability to get others involved last year. I do expect him to average around 11 points per game. He should have more minutes and surely he will finish around the rim better than last year.

Kur was a major disappointment for me. Hopefully he is continuing to gain strength. He didn't need the pandemic layoff. We need him to get 20-25 minutes a game and at least double the averages. He will affect shots if he can stay in the game.

I mentioned in another thread that I believe Harmon is the biggest key to the season. How well he scores, get others involved, and defends could lead to the difference between this team being right on the bubble and a 6 seed. Maybe my expectations are too high, but that's what I see.

I would also like to see Kur become a better version of James Mayden. Mayden averaged 5/5 his senior year but stepped up big in a couple of road games. I could envision Kur being an 8/8 or 9/9 type of guy if he stays out of foul trouble and doesn't get lost as often this season.

I don't think thats really fair on Kur.... he played behind two all-conference players. Not much you can do there. In other words... Doolittle and Manek play about 35 minutes per game, each, because they are both crazy good.

In the game against UTRGV when Doolittle was suspended, he got 26 minutes and had 17 points and 8 rebounds.

He got 17 minutes against KSU, and had 5 points and 7 rebounds.

He got 17 minutes against Tech, and had 2 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 blocks

He got 16 minutes against TCU, and had 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 blocks

He played more than 10 minutes 15 times, and in those games he averaged:

5.4 points and 2.5 blocks per game.... but still on an average of like 11 minutes per game.

You have to imagine if he plays 30 minutes per game he could easily average 8-9 points per game, 5-6 rebounds per game, and block some shots... At this level, that makes a very solid player. Certainly no replacement for Doolittle in terms of production, but valuable in a different way. Being 6'10'', really long, blocking shots, catching lobs, etc.

I think you’ll see a different Harmon. More aggressive and little more free.

Heard Lon felt he limited Harmon some.

Kur can avg 8-10ppg hopefully. 2 dunks a half and 2FTs a game if he gets 30 mins.

Harmon - 10 ppg and 5 apg would be nice.

Kur - If we could get 8 & 8 from him (pts/Rebs) and 2-3 blocks/game...and I would be tickled.

I don’t think those numbers are too far out of line for Kur, but four dunks a game would be very unlikely. Dok averaged just over three for his career and he was as unstoppable in the post as anyone. But I think he could get 8-10 points per game on a combination of dunks, layups, and other points in the paint and at the line.

I've said since before they got here that if Kur contributed anything meaningful I'd be happy, and that if Harmon was anything less than an above-average Big XII started I'd be very disappointed. At times last year, I wondered if I had been wrong about both. For this team to compete at a high-level, Harmon will likely need to take a second-year leap that JB wasn't able to under this coaching staff (and with a limited offseason).

My concern with Kur is post defense. Neither he nor Manek are very physical, so big, strong post players can post up and back them down.

I think Harmon will play a lot better with a year under his belt. He took the ball into the paint and found out it was a lot different than HS ... couldn’t get a shot off and had no outlet pass. Hopefully he has learned.

Little tongue and cheek. I meant he should be able to find 4 buckets a game. offensive rebounds and lobs.

How many teams actually back down and post their bigs anymore? Not many.

I'd expect Harmon to be around 10ppg and 5-7 assists. Defensively he's got it and will be elite on that end I think.. Kur I was actually pretty impressed with last season with limited minutes. I don't think he will play more than 20-25min a game next year. If he can give us 6-7ppg and 6-7reb that would be great! You know he will probably lead the big 12 in blocks if he gets 20+ minutes.

I’d expect Harmon 10 ppg & 3-4 apg. Kur around 6 ppg & 5rpg at about 20-24 mpg.

I was a little disappointed in Harmon last year, he really struggled getting by his defender & struggled a little on defense early on. His defense was good by conference & I think he’ll be a lockdown guy for the years to come. I honestly think LK was going to move Harmon to more on the ball & have JB go to the wing & play pg when Harmon was out. Might be why he transferred.

I actually was pleasantly surprised by Kur because I didn’t expect much from him. He was terrible on P&R coverage and couldn’t move his feet at all early on & I thought Vic would pass him quickly. He really improves those areas, even though he still struggled a bit.

7 assists is ambitious... That would make you one of the best assist guys in the country. I think 3-4 is more realistic.

I think he will get to 5.. 7 is high, but with the Reeves and Manek and throwing Lobs to Kur I think it's possible. I'd love if he came out and just attacked the lane to create for others not to score.

Harmon was a shrug of the shoulders last year. He's alright. Seven assists seems like two or three a game too many.

I'm stunned at how high some of you rate Kuath. Eight rebounds a game? Doolittle's the only guy to have done that since Spangler. I'd say seven points and five rebounds. We'll have to live with all of the mistakes because we don't have anything else.

Good points. I was very high in the preseason after I went to some practices. Then he didn't perform as expected in most games. He was stuck behind two very good players but had Kur played better they would have had more minutes at the 3 and 4 respectively.
My disappointment was I thought he would contribute more even with those guys playing so well.
