Former OU Players - Starting Lineup

I would say Alondes at almost 52% from the floor was more efficient than the average guard/wing. And, 6.6 boards for his position is as good as anyone we currently have.

Agree. Statistically, he has been one of the best players in the country this year. The only thing negative he had was his turnovers (also not sure how good his defense has been).

I did not watch one game Alondes played in this year, but I do know that a wing who shoots 52% from the floor and averages more than 20 a game is a guy I wish was playing for OU. I will be the first to admit I did not see that level of production coming after last season.

I did see Brady Manek play against Duke...so glad to see him come up big in ruining Coach K's final. What we did to Oklahoma State in 2000 was a Senior Day memory I will always cherish. Sadly, we got our karma three years later when Texas ruined the Senior Day of Hollis and Quannas. But I would say what NC did to Duke Saturday was those aforementioned games x 1000 on a national level. Neither fan base will ever forget that game in their lifetime.

Saying he wouldn't fit is pretty ridiculous. He looked pretty athletic and like he would be a future starter when he was here. He just needed to be more consistent. We needed athletic ability at the wing spots that could score in a variety of ways. He would be starting over Harkless this year if he kept getting better like he did. I don't know if he's scoring 20 a game against Big 12 competition though. It was a surprise for him to take the leap he took this year though.

Re: 2022 All-ACC First Team

Obviously it stings seeing Alondes thrive elsewhere, but as others have said, the portal giveth, the portal taketh away. As for Kam, there is no way he could still be in college if he had stayed in Norman for his entire career.

In other ACC news, Capel's team put the finishing touches on their season today. Dude can flat coach. :) Speaking of him, I saw that Pitt had the students honor/thank Coach K when they hosted Duke late in the season. How nauseating. I think Duke's faceplant and the narcissistic show to honor K after the UNC game was some of the funniest TV I've seen all year.

Re: 2022 All-ACC First Team

21 losses for Pitt this year. Not bad. Also in 4 seasons only one season with more than 15 wins for Capel. He probably will get canned.

Also Pitt as a program if you take away Dixon and Howland is pretty bad historically. Only 6 seasons of 20 or more wins since the early 1930s if you take away Howland and Dixon.

Capel is a terrible coach. He’s lucky he happened to coach OU when BG graduated HS or it would be much worse. He’s terrible.

Bingo. But he listens to Jay-z...

Re: 2022 All-ACC First Team

I really thought Jeff Capel would grow and evolve but he seems to be pretty mediocre (at best).

Congrats to Alondes. Happy for him.

That would be really big for those 30-something year old recruits now a days. Jay-Z was really big when I was a kid and I'm turning 38 in a couple weeks.

I'm a UNC fan, it's hard to watch him guard on the perimeter.

The game is moving to where talented guys like Brady are mid majors. Offensively he’s outstanding. On the other end, he’s a target that teams put in pick and roll or pick and pop situations every possession.

lol. Guys like brady are mid majors?

I cant get on board with that. Look every power 5, they have guys that play like brady.

I think Seymore is saying Brady is outstanding on offense, but he is a mid-major level defender.

I agree with that. I have seen UNC play three times on television so far. Brady looked good offensively in every game. He was the same player on defense we saw at OU: too slow to guard smaller, quicker players and not strong or tough enough to defend players his size or bigger.

I wish Brady had stayed at OU! We needed him this season. But he is not nor has he ever been a great defender.

Ok. I can take mid major defender. but clearly a power 5 basketball player.

That mid major was 2nd team all ACC. I know they are having a down year, but you basically just called the whole ACC a mid major conference.

Honorable mention.

(not to say I think he's mid-major)

I watched him guard possible number 1 overall pick Banchero the second half last weekend. He was pretty good on defense. So much that I was surprised. Obviously Banchero is not a smaller guy. The game is on YouTube if you don’t believe me.

Update from a few posts up. Saw Jeff Capel will get one more year for Pitt. It's gotta be NCAA or bust for him.
