Former OU Players - Starting Lineup

Update from a few posts up. Saw Jeff Capel will get one more year for Pitt. It's gotta be NCAA or bust for him.

Pitt must be like the Cleveland Indians in Major League … trying to lose on purpose. Unless Blake is granted eligibility, Capel won’t sniff the NCAA. I have no idea how they can justify not firing him.

4 years and only one season of 15 wins. Yeah I agree. Even if you throw out the covid year he was under .500 that year. It was maybe his 2nd best year so far.

Maybe they dont have the cash rn to buy him out

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner! His buyout is $15 million...if you know anyone who is looking for a good agent, reach out to Capel's.

Are you serious?? $15m?? That can’t be right. If so, Pitt has the dumbest AD and president on the planet.

That's the number I read...and no way they are going to pay it, so may as well ride with him. I'm not sure what that number becomes next year. In the past, I was one of Capel's defenders. I really believed most of his problems at OU were correctable (and would have made some of those corrections after all those years at Duke). I figured he would be recruiting at a higher level. Pitt is lower on the totem pole than OU, but three of their past five head coaches have won there, so it's not exactly Northwestern. Oh well...unless something changes dramatically next year, it looks like I was wrong about him.

From Howland's last year through Dixon's first 12 years they won 20 or more games 13 straight years and then 19 the next year and 21 the year after that. SInce then they've won 16, 8, 14, 16, 10, 11. Talk about a program falling from grace. They only went to the final four like once but still you would think a program that won at that high a level would be easy to get back to at least being decent. Especially being in areas of high population relatively close. Pittsburgh itself is a big city but you aren't that far from Ohio and New York City really. Heck both DC and NYC are within 350 miles or so. You shouldn't have really bad talent there.
