Has anyone else lost interest in college ball?

I just can't bring myself to really care about college hoops anymore. I guess knowing OU is going to get blown out every game, or have to fight for wins against Tech or Neb has pretty much killed my interest. I used to follow all of the college teams and watch every game on tv that I could. Now I just dont care anymore, and watching other teams makes me realize just how far we have fallen.

Is it the fact that OU is terrible? I never thought I would feel this way, but the last two years has sucked the life out of the game for me. I don't follow the top 25 anymore and really don't care who wins or looses. Does anyone else feel like this?

Nah, I can separate my feelings about the current state of OU's program from other teams. College ball is fun to watch regardless of how well OU is doing. And when the only alternative is the NBA, yikes!

I never had a problem getting up for college basketball during Quin's dark days. But I guess there was really only one season that compared to this year for you guys (his last). Before that I always still had hope. His last couple of teams actually had some talent. They were just incredibly flawed teams (zero depth, no role players, no point guards, no leadership), so there was at least SOMETHING. Even in his last year we had Gardner scoring 20/game and we beat kansas (still an epic win, the rest of that season notwithstanding).

I feel for OU fans right now. But you can't just give up on college basketball. If nothing else, start following teams with coaches you might steal.

I totally agree i could watch NCAA basketball, any conference, any game, all day, every day...

Yep. The VT/UNC game last night had zero relevance to my rooting interests and was an eyesore to the game of college basketball for the first 36 minutes, but the last 4:00 were epic and that made it worth it. Of course the fact that we're still on break could have something to do w/ that lol

I've lost a lot of interest in College BB. When OU is down this way, I just don't have much interest. I used to watch all the games I could.

You're not alone, CLS. I said two weeks ago that my enthusiasm for college basketball is lower than it has been in forty years or more. The last paragraph in your post expressed my feelings exactly.

I've lost some interest. It seems it's gotten a lot dirtier in recruiting. Coaches don't recruit the highschools anymore. Everything is controlled by AAU coaches. Also, the one and done rule is bad for college ball .... I wish it were like football where players have to stay for 3 years.

I honestly don't give a damn when its on anymore. I can't hardly tell you who the good teams are right now.

Same here. I have very little interest in college basketball for the first year in the last 35.

I still get excited for certain matchups, but find it depressing watching them knowing how bad we suck and how much these teams will stomp us. I still watch them though.

I was thinking ahead to the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City, and got depressed knowing that we will have no hope going into that. I love the Big 12 Tournament weekend, especially when we're in the mix.

I haven't given up though and I'll still always be glued to my TV once March Madness officially begins no matter how bad we are. Last year's tournament was an absolute joy to watch even though we weren't involved.

I share your sentiments pretty much to a tee. I was really going to make an effort this year in learning about other teams, their players and coaches, and just really try to soak in the college game for once. I knew that we'd be bad, but I assumed that we would be fun to watch because we would actually play TEAM basketball with solid fundamentals.

However, after witnessing our games in person, our team just sucks the interest that I have in delving into the college game this year. For me to really get into a sport I need a team to follow. But what fun is it if that team seemingly forgets how to play the game for halves at a time?

I'm still following the team and going to the games, but man OU bball is so damn aggravating and draining these days!

I will always be glued to March Madness. But the fact that we will not be involved will take that glimmer of hope that you have at the start of the tournament. There is always a hope that your team can put together a run and make it to the final four no matter what the seed. Its like Lloyd Christmas saying, "So your telling me there is a chance?"

The fact that the University of Oklahoma Basketball program will not even sniff March Madness, but will probably only win a game or two in conference is sad and unacceptable.
