Not sure what I've done, but when I'm trying to upload a video or photo to Twitter it takes forever to do so. Even for a photo there's usually no load time, it just posts quickly. A 10 second video takes minutes to upload and post, and sometimes doesn't load at all, where it usually takes seconds.

I've restarted and rebooted everything -- modem, laptop, wireless -- multiple times and it changes nothing.

When I'm just surfing the web, everything loads fine from site to site. It's just when I try to load photos/videos to Twitter or to make a GIF and even email. It's painfully slow.

Any thoughts on what I've done and how to fix this issue? I just woke up yesterday morning and this started happening.

PS - Had the same issue posting from my cell connection. Is it something wrong with my wireless modem?

Sounds like it's definitely something to do with your network/wifi. I'd recommend calling your provider (painful as that process will likely be).

Yeah, ugh. Thanks. Might be less effort to just buy a new router.

It may not be your equipment, though. Call them and tell them you suddenly are experiencing very slow uploads and see what they have to say.

How old is your router? I just replaced an old router and it helped immensely.

Have you done a speed test to see what your upload speed is? If not I suggest that because it will give you an idea if the issue is hardware related or not.

Another thing to try is a different browser (if you are saying that you are having these issues on your laptop). If you don't have the issues from a different browser then your usual browser is the issue.

One final thing you posted you had the same issue with your cell connection. I'm assuming this means you tethered your phone to your laptop and tried uploading from your laptop? Is that right?

If you are having the issues on 2 different networks (wifi and cellular) with the same device then the issue points to your device or something on your device. Most likely software related as I don't think I have ever seen a wifi module on a laptop where download is not affected but upload is.

Speed test was 7.31 Mbps.

The router is at least a couple years old. I can't remember how much older.

That is plenty fast enough upload speed. So your service shouldn't be the problem. Which means most likely the router and modem are not the problem.

Have you tried a different browser?

Have you tried uploading the same video to twitter from your phone on home wifi?

Yes. Have tried multiple browsers. Uploads much slower from phone than usual, but a smidge better than laptop. Wife also experienced slower uploading of photos to Facebook via her cell phone.

Ok then my earlier comments may be wrong.

Have you tried uploading via a wired connection? If so is it still slow?

New router didn't fix it (probably needed a new one anyway). Got Cox coming out tomorrow. Thanks for the replies.

I would connect directly to the modem/router with a laptop (wired) and see what speeds you get. If it does not improve then something wrong on Cox Cable's end IMO. Update firmware would be next attempt.

Netgear Nighthawk is a good router from my experience. Power-line adapter kits are sometimes a good work around for flaky wifi.

Good luck.
