About the only thing I just wondered about was the high-low effort by OU during West Virginia.

It did not look like Nancy and Vivi had practiced it all all, or certainly not enough to get it close to right.

I'm glad they tried it and I hope it can become a solid part of the offense.

However, did it amaze people as it did me that it looked like it was something you'd seen in a park pick-up game?

Justs a little strange.

Yeah, it did look a little off beat. I think Sherri was trying to do something that would put the ball in the basket.

Oh, I agree. I guess it's really not part of our offense yet.

I for sure Thought it didn't look very well synced but regardless you would think a kid at this level could make a pass to a bigger post player again understand it takes practice but I have to believe the Coach thought they should be able to execute this

agree,
what's crazy is you have a 6'9 player coming in...knowing you'll probably play her...and an est 6'4 power post...

we haven't made it a part of our offense yet? weird.

True. It was also weird that Ashley Paris only started 15 out of 69 games her first 2 years. Would have been a great high low combo. Did not happen.

So to make the high-low offense a regular part of our game, who are you going to run at the 4, expecting them to guard whoever the other team has at the 4? Who are you going to run at the 5?

Let me note that I did not say we should be running it. I just noted that it has obviously not been practiced much.

I think that's the question, how do you run it.

Vivi on the block doesn't make a good hi-low offense appealing to me because I don't think she can out jump many centers.

Putting Nancy on the block takes Vivi completely out of where she excels on offense and defense -- under the basketball.

I don't think Nancy is strong or tough enough to be at the rim in the offense -- yet.

It's an interesting problem to have, if Nancy gets stronger, and with Maddie's departure, I think coach will give it a strong look in some fashion, but not as long as Maddie is on the roster.

Eddie Sutton used the high-low post against certain defenses very effectively. But we looked like we didn't have enough practice against tough defense. Nancy is supposed to be a good shot from the high post, so I expect to see it again-after more practice. Could make double teams tough to do against ViVi inside, or else wide open 3 point shooters-if we could execute it.

Star, why you wanna' mention that and cause me to have Stanford/OU Sweet 16 in San Antonio flashbacks that send me into post traumatic stress (jk...sorta')?

Also vividly remember that game.

Yes, a heart breaker! Stanford was handing it to us with their two post players until SC wised up and put AParis in the lineup. We start handing it to them. Then we went back to a smaller post lineup against Stanford's larger. Bay area fans are still talking about how OU gave that one away by not playing the twins together more in that game versus trusting your seniors. Size has no class when it comes to offense, defense and winning. DO WHAT WORKS...even if it's five freshmen.

We haven't seen much of the high-low game at OU, especially since 2009. Chemistry (physical, mental, relational) is a key component in any team sport and OU has not taken the best advantage of it over the years. Effective recruiting has a chemistry component. Let's hope they do so pretty quickly to start to rebuild a winning tradition where fans participate, sponsors jump in and final fours are achievable.

That infamous bounce pass into the post (down around the ankles) continues to cause me to scratch my head...and stomp my foot. I'd like to see the stats on the outcomes of the bounce pass into the post (usually a crowd)...turnover, kicked ball, reset, shot clock violation, possession arrow due to tie-up). When you have a SIX FOOT NINE (can't be taught) center, there are a few things that should be diligently practiced...lob pass (not a 100 mph fast pitch), high-low pass, center sealing the defender prepping for receipt of lob pass. Consistent practice makes for improved productivity over time. AParis and CParis were very good at it because they had the benefit of practicing it all of their lives, which built chemistry. You don't have to be a twin to have chemistry. Ask Magic and Jabbar!
