Honestly, how did we sink this low, so fast?

Lack of talent, we just played a team that has no National 150 players while OU has four - Davis, Fitzgerald, Pledger, and Clark. It is not the talent, it is the lack of coaching. He has no bonafide assistant coaches and no control of the team - he is their buddy. Therefore, we have chaos and get blown out by Texas Tech.

Someone over at soonerscoop said it is 90% chance that Capel is gone (he has good connections), just a matter if we get the coach we want.

Somebody on OUI just posted the same thing.

I don't know what to believe...Chewy, who has good sources, said last week it was 50/50 Capel would be back. A poster on OUI who has always been a good source of info says he heard Capel has 2 more years. Another poster on OUI, who has had good sources in the past, just posted Capel will be gone after this season. Now, you are posting what somebody on soonerscoop says...

It doesn't really matter either way. Our team is so young and the fact we are at rock bottom as a program, a new coach is going to have a rough couple years to get the ball rolling again.

Basketball is pretty easy to turn from bad to good. You pretty much need a good player and good system, and good coaching. Decent role players.

Coaching
Having a system
players leaving
talent
developement of players =
failure
Everything above has been dicussed at least a 1001 times on this board now 1002..Go Sooners!!!!!

<--- Just a football guy. I watch OU basketball cause I love OU

We missed on kids (Warren,TMG, Tiny) because Capel was willing to over look certain character flaws, the kids have ego, he couldn't control it. Capel couldn't boot the AA players so he tried to exort more control on the role players (Patillo), those guys walked away..

In short... Took risks, couldn't control superstars, talent drain because of departures.

I'll hang up & listen off air

patillo was STEALING why does noone understand this??? & its not capel that cant recruit good kids anymore! look all around the country. or just the big 12!!!! there are just really not many good quality players out there with the right attitudes. AAU & one & done has messed up college basketball. we all know this. YES OU is awful i get that & apparently the guys gave up last night but that has to be the first time this season that they actually have given up. just PLEASE lets see what happens next year & get some recruits & go from there. last year was an AWFUL thing that happened & im sorry capel doesnt pay all his players like kentucky & all those other schools but im willing to give him another year & hopefully he gets it turned around.

This is quite possibly one of the dumbest defenses of a failing coach that I've ever read. He can't recruit good kids because they don't exist anymore? REALLY? That's why he's finishing below .500?

Most schools have an issue or two every now and then. But few implode like OU has. And yes, it is Capel's responsibility. He's failed at his job. Whether or not he's held accountable or gets a chance to fix it is up to your AD, but there is absolutely zero disputing the fact that he has failed.

I'm not sure we have fallen that "fast." I think this has been building, or falling, you might say, since Kelvin left.

Blake was a short two year bubble, once that popped, we went with it. That's not to say Capel won only because of Blake, that's faulty logic, but he definitely did not take the correct steps to replace him.

We were all fooled into believing the program was much healthier than it was because of Blake. Thus, the apparent meteoric fall from grace, when in fact, I think it's been a much more subtle process.
