Horrible loss and all that, but...

In the grand scheme of things this game meant very little. Win 2 more and we're safely in. Win out and all this likely will do is drop us maybe 1 seed in the tournament.

The only way this debacle could have some sort of larger ramifications for us is if we let it get into our heads the rest of the way.

I know this isn't what the pitchfork & torches crowd wants to hear right now, so carry on with your rantings and ravings.

Think reasonable people understood this, as long as we take care of business against WVU and TCU we'll be fine. Gonna take a while for the sting to wear off from this one though, had to be Texas of course.

Pitchfork & torches crowd. I like that better than whiners, although both fit.

yes, they have to live their lives vicariously through wins and loses. As if it means more for them to win or lose than it does for the players...

Yep. It sucks, but at the end of the day, it shouldn't hurt us much.

Look around the country at all of the crazy upsets. Another one tonight with Michigan going down to a horrendous Penn State team. Kansas going down to TCU in our own league. It's not just us.

Obviously this is shocking given how the game unfolded, but the warning signs were there in the second half against Baylor. This team misses Buddy Hield mightily, and Texas is a different team with Kabongo. Iowa State found out the same thing in Austin a couple of games ago.

I did get a nice chuckle out of some of our brilliant media members (Jake Trotter) saying that this was "one of the worst losses in OU history". Really, a virtually meaningless regular season game is one of the worst losses in OU history? Jake should just stick to football.

i can understand if he said worst way to lose a basketball game, but i think losing to Hawaii Hilo was pretty bad a couple years ago...

Lon said it was the worst loss in his 27 year coaching career. Pretty sobering, unfortunately. Think Jake may not be as far off as you think.

Seriously, anyone that thinks this is "one of the worst losses in OU history" is a t-shirt fan with little to no knowledge or perspective about OU basketball history. Go ahead and go back to furiously scouring the Internet for OU football recruiting tidbits.

Yeah, cause he's really going to say that. lmao

Lon's not one for the dramatics. Difference between "tough loss" and "worst loss" for a head coach with 27 years of wins and losses is just tough to hear. Believe it or not, I'm on the same side as you after this loss, so stop trying to be a dick lmao.

This wasn't a horrible loss. The way we lost it was horrible though. I didn't have a good feeling about the game going into it. If you told me before the game that we would lose in OT, I wouldn't have been upset about it.

Exactly. Not the worst loss in terms of importance or caliber of opponent, but probably the worst meltdown I have seen OU pull in football or basketball. We allowed Texas to score 47 points in 12 minutes of basketball.

I agree with half of your statement. I agree that this game isnt one that will keep us out of the tournament.

I do however strongly dissagree that this game meant very little. Do you not believe in rivals? Ever Texas and OSU game means a ton to me regardless of how each team is doing throughout the year.
