Hosting 2019 Anyang Garan

So does he come in as a freshman, or is a transfer of some kind?

I've lost track of the math . . . we will lose six seniors after this season (since it sounds like Lazenby will transfer), and so far we have five kids signed in this class. So wouldn't we technically have a scholarship for him even without a transfer? Or do you just mean that it is likely someone will leave because of playing time? The latter would make sense, just wanted to make sure that is what you mean.

Latter.

Yes, it was. He’s using it as a redshirt season. Haven’t heard if it’s medical?

That said, I think WichitaSooner is correct. We still have a 2019 scholarship available.

They will seek medical after the year

That's the only option, since he played in the regular season. And I'm sure they feel very confident it will be granted, otherwise there is no way they would hold him out for the season.

Correct. A formality. But it still has to be grant.

that is 100% unnecessary and unwarranted. this is an excellent pickup. He's an excellent student and team mate with speed and a nice shooting touch. And he's loooong. Plus his coach says he's a gym rat.

I think it's exciting. It's gonna be so much fun next year!

Impressive young man with an incredible story. Surprisingly articulate for a relative newcomer to the English language. Tall, thin, athletic recruit with long arms. If he grows into those feet, he could be an inch or two taller by the time he arrives on campus. I like what I see of him on video.

That was the first thing that popped into my head as well. He's apparently a pretty sharp kid. good for us!!

wonder if the preseason trip had a hand in this...did we play his team?

I think he’s behind 4 top 100 pups. 1 juco in Williams. Helps spread out classes. So I think he’s a great project. Huge upside.

yeah. and it certainly helps to keep opening up foreign lands for potential future recruits. Steven Adams is the youngest of what - 13 kids? They've got some bigguns down there.

Someone asked about Merritt? I have no clue.

Jucos hard to get info.

The Daytona State web site shows he’s averaging 5.6 points and 4.9 Rebs per game, coming off of the bench and playing around 16 mpg overall, 11 mpg in conference. I don’t have a clue if an injury has been a factor in his poor performance, but he has played in 19 games this season, which seems to suggest he may not be as good as some of us thought. Even more troubling, at least to me, he is shooting an unimpressive 44% (11 of 25) from the free throw line. His average from three in a limited sampling is even worse (20%).

I was highly critical of Kur Kauth when he was in juco, but I changed my mind about him after he arrived on campus at OU. In other words, I could be wrong about Merritt too.

My thoughts exactly. Merritt has 3 years to play here at OU. So plenty of time to develop.
