Sooners lead 11-10 @ 11:28 mark; Ortiz 5 rebs, Kornet hit a three

7:14 until halftime, 17-12 OU. Kornet has five points, Gabbi Ortiz has seven rebounds.

Ortiz looks really good. Nicole had some good plays. Good ball movement when Ortiz, Maddie, and Peyton are in the game at the same time.

A few too many breakdowns on defense allowing penetration. Too many turnovers but not unusual.

46-26 at half. Played very tentative and poorly to start. Somewhere around the 8 minute mark Sherri had us up the defensive pressure and we started to play better.

Ortiz can really play. Very mature for a freshman. Maddie is shaking some rust off, but is starting to play like she can. Kornett good first half. Little can score and has good instincts on the press.

I love how Ortiz looks to pass downcourt to advance the ball quickly. We haven't had a player do that in forever.

If I were to pick a player of the game right now it would be Peyton followed by Ortiz.

Kornet is getting hit from BTA. A couple of great passes inside by Gioya to Kaylon.

L Williams has surprised me tonight. She's had a good night.

I once read teams couldn't get pass half court against Northeast pressure. After watching the pressure that L Williams and TT can put out there tonight it's easy to see why.

Not that it matters, but I'd like to know who started.

Don't understand why no one is talking about Gioya Carter's play tonight. The girl is a stud (figuratively). Billy Tubbs agrees; he had very high praise for the way Gioya looks. It will be impossible to keep her out of the lineup this season.

Overall, I was impressed with the play of many. K.K. looked very good (sans the dumb fouls). Peyton, Ortiz, Nicole, they all showed signs of helping this team become so much better than last year's. Oh, and I was also impressed with the freshman Williams. She plays with confidence and doesn't back down. I'm sure I'm forgetting someone, so I'll stop.

All these girls need is time on the court together.

Everyone did some things that I liked. Everyone made some mistakes.

Our weaknesses tonight, other than Kay-Kay's fouls, were inability to stop dribble penetration and inability to hit shots. Since we shot fifty percent, that looks a lot better on paper than it did in the game.

We are much better at moving the ball this year, sometimes overpassing. Shoot Peyton. Maddie, Gabi, Nicole, and Peyton seemed to be able to find open people at will. Gabi is a ball-handler. She may be the best pure point that we have recruited. DRob had to learn it, which she did quickly. But, Gabi seems to know how to pass and how to control the ball. She has a nice shot. She just didn't hit it.

Peyton---shoot.

Maddie needs to look for her shot more as well. She can get open at will.

Nicole did a lot of things well.

LaNesia looks to score. There is no freshman hesitancy in her. Get to the rim and score.

Tubbs likes Carter.

I thought ViVi and Treece suggested that they may be able to play after five or six games experience.

You look better when you are making an effort. Balls seem to come to those who try. We made a good effort.

Gioya just needs to eliminate the bad plays. She also still turns down too many open shots. But, she does several things very well.

I know we grabbed a lot of rebounds tonight but I still didn't see the effort or technique which will be needed to rebound against good teams.

64-29! I thought rebounding was the least of our problems. I do understand where you're coming from though.
