I know about T. Young and Manek, but I'm curious if there many other D-1 prospects in this Oklahoma preps senior class this coming season.

Land run from Central is going to Smu
Martin from Yukon going to Jacksonville State
Chag from Union will be Smu or Houston level commit
Rodriguez from Union will choose a D1 school
I think Wilson from Edmond North has committed somewhere

Wilson committed to Lehigh. Marvin Johnson from Edmond North will go D1. Compared to 2016 this is a weak senior class but it has star power in Trae Young.

Marvin Johnson from Edmond North? Did he transfer from Ardmore? I saw him at the Ardmore-Ada football game, but I guess maybe he could have been "just visiting some buddies" or something. If he's gone, that's a season killer for my old high school (AHS).

Yeah him and the pg from Harding Prep transferred there.

High school basketball is a dirty, dirty, dirty world.

It's getting bad. Terry evans and terry long are the 2 worst.. Ardmores best 2 players went there.

The two Ardmore guys were going to Mustang until Terry hired a new AAU coach for his assistant spot so then went to North.

They need to put in a radius rule and say any move ins have to sit inside that.
It won't stop all of them but will stop some.

The OSSAA needs to get serious with a rule like that or just make it a free for all because acting like they have really rules right now is just a joke.

As long as it's a legal move more power to them.

OSSAA is amazing, they allow these coaches to recruit kids and then pick and choose which programs to come down on. Long brought in Benjamin York last year, no questions asked. This year he has brought in two players and moved them into apartments. Evans gets Marvin( who will not qualify and go juco) and Carlos, who has played at 4 high schools in 4 years. PCN gets two kids Adokiye & Blake Owens, who live in the Piedmont district because PCN hires the On Point coach. George Price now at PCW, he did move at the end of last year, Moorland leaves CA moves to Norman, Atkinson goes to PCO and Cameron Martin leaves Yukon goes to NN and now goes back to Yukon. All these kids were ruled eligible to play this year. A couple of these kids were legitimate moves but the rest were smoke and mirrors. OSSAA this year decided to turn a blind eye to this.

But many times it is not a legitimate move.

If they are going to make everyone sign a form saying they can't recruit then they shouldn't be able to. However if you are going to let it go like it is, then don't have the fake paper.

The York story last year was incredible in how they let that one go.

However there are crazier ones every year and it is all over. It isn't in just one place and it will only get worse because people now know if you show up with an attorney you won't sit out.

That is why I am saying if you want to let it happen that is fine, but don't act like there are rules or these are legit move ins in a lot of cases.

Maybe I am reading it wrong though, are you saying it is okay if they were talked into going to another school as long as they move?

The other one that is going now is the transfer rule because of a kid wanting to take a certain class. I know of one who the school came up with the idea that he wanted to take a specific foreign language class and his old school doesn't h have. Don't worry about the fact that he had multiple meetings in the summer with the coach about playing time and that he should be playing more. Then he is now at a new school with his two siblings still at the old district.

It is the wild wild west and high school sports will eventually give way to club and built teams rather than schools teams. Just my opinion though, doesn't mean it is right or anyone else is wrong.

I can't believe that some of those schools in the OKC area haven't already been hammered, but I guess OSSAA doesn't really care. It really is sleazy to recruit at the high school level.

When I was in Albuquerque, the worst "recruiter" was actually a girls' coach who found the loophole, so to speak. He'd find out if some of his players' parents knew the parents of girls he wanted to steal from their normal schools, then the parents would make the initial contact.

It was no surprise at all that this coach got the boot eventually. He got caught blackmailing some of his players into sleeping with him, and I think he also got busted doing the same thing in west Texas somewhere. The guy was already unpopular around Albuquerque because he steered his occasional D-1 players out of state. So no one outside of his old school was sad to see him get what was coming to him.

As for the revolting news on Johnson and Coppage, I guess that means the Lawton Mac coach will be sending Terry Evans a nice Christmas gift. There is some animosity between this guy and the Ardmore program, and he will probably spared a couple of blowout losses now.

If you're a city school you can do whatever you want.. but those rural schools, they actually go get them. Pathetic

I'm saying if the parents are willing to pick up and make a legitimate move into another schools district for their child to play there then more power to them. Recruiting happens at all levels from class B to class 6A. As long as no ones amateur status is being put into jeopardy let them go.

OKCPS has (at least as of last year) an open transfer policy between all its schools.

That is my main point. Don't hold some to rules and others not. If you want to make it an open market then do so.

People say everyone recruits so if they want to move them let them, if that is the case then get rid of the rules and make it open.

Just realize when you open it up the concept of team sports in the schools will take a hit. People will leave over playing time or team not being good enough or recruited by others. It happens now but realize it will get worse so teams will become more like summer sports and clubs. Not knocking those groups just that it will move that way and I'm not a fan of that but just my opinion.

Make a hard line rule or get rid of the fake ones we have now that no one follows now.

A few years ago Summit Christian here in Tulsa was 1 or 2 games away from going to the state tourney when they had a kid who had transferred there after being homeschooled got ruled ineligible and they got booted from the playoffs. Prior to the season they asked OSSAA about his eligibility and were told he was good to go, only to get screwed over in March. I think that May have been when that dude got fired as head of OSSAA and new people came in and interpreted the rules differently
