Just wondering how many more we have, would think the rest would go to HS kids to balance out roster.
Best high school player available in my opinion. Got a juco big and Wing, and while I agree a HS big would be great, if there is a great HS wing or guard that blows up in the late period, I would love for us to be able to swoop him up a la Isaiah Cousins last year. Know we haven't seen him play, but by all accounts including non-OU media personnel, we really stole one with him. Who's to say we can't find that again with a Wing or Forward.
we badly need a high school big
I thought Cole was going to be on a academic scholarship, thus not taking one of the 13 b-ball ships??
We have to hope M'Baye is just good and not great this year. The coaches think he will be a NBA player. Hope he plays for us two years not just one.
I disagree...our team is going to suck next year or if not suck, most likely not be an ncaa tournament team...why not have him be great and put us in a great position to have a solid ncaa tournament team. If he leaves then he leaves. But we are not replacing Osby, Fitz, and Pledger with better players the following season. It needs to be now..and we need the best from every player b/c we have a shot at having a good sleeper team this season.
I don't agree that OU won't replace these 3 with better players the following year. They are bringing in alot of talent for this upcoming season and next(M'baye aside) that are more than capable. At worst it is a "wait and see", but you can't count out the newcomers for their futures.
This year yes, next year no.
If he can get a scholarship for academics, why waste a bball scholarship?
If he earned an athletic scholarship, then he deserves one. If he wants to turn it down for the good of the team, then good for him, but the coach shouldn't force that decision on him. Someone with more knowledge can correct me, but I believe there are certain perks available to a scholarship athlete that aren't available to a walk-on. Perhaps the perks he gets from an academic scholarship would make up for those.

I think its more of...Can Kruger bring in a kid that is better than him...If not, then give him a scholarship...If so, then he needs to stay on Academic scholarship.
Kruger should be recruiting like he has 2 scholarships available and if he can get 2 recruits that are better than Cole(Who will be a freshmen next season and has a chance to prove himself) than he should give them out. If Cole can beat out scholarship players for playing time then he should get a scholarship but we need to get the best team possible and not filling our roster up with the best of the best and keeping scholarships open for basically a Walk-on does us no good.
Or, Kruger could do exactly what he told the kid he would do. Put him on athletic scholarship next season. Cole was ready to sign with Davidson. He isn't a charity case.
