I know a ton of people are saying ou needs to win the whole tourney to get a 1 seed and that would guarantee them one. But my question is if ou wins tonight and MSU and either UNC or UVA loses do you guys not thing it would give us a great chance?

That would give us another top 10 team where as 2 of UNC, UVA, &MSU would have lost to I ranked teams.

I don't see how they could keep us from a 1 seed in that scenario. Thoughts?

I tend to agree with this scenario as well. If the committee considers a team's overall resume, and not just the last 10 games, then a win tonight plus losses by UNC/UVA/MSU should boost OU's resume to a top seed.

That's the million dollar question and I don't have an answer for you. I think if OU beats WVU and loses a close game to KU we have a decent shot for a 1 seed.

I'm OK with a 2 seed in OKC. Every team needs some luck to win in the Sweet 16. You have to figure we will be playing a 3 or 4 seed, and then have to beat a 1 or 2 seed to go to the Final Four. No easy task.

we should be in the discussion already if you really look at the resumes... however, where we are ranked.. we are not. need some help and a win over WVU

I think if we win tonight our resume is just as good as anyone's except kansas.

The problem is, I don't think people will give us a 1 seed if we lose to Kansas for the third time.

I'm torn. Our resume certainly stacks up, but I don't like how we've finished the season, and I don't like that we finished third in our conference. Those last two don't scream "1 seed" to me.

I certainly think we're a 1 seed if we win the Big 12 Tourney though.

We are in the discussion right now for a 1 seed.

Team Top 25 Record Top 50 Record Worst Loss
Kansas 7-3 13-3 @#164 osu
Virginia 7-2 8-2 @#85 Va Tech
UNC 3-3 3-5 @#74 UNI
Nova 1-3 8-4 #36 Providence*
MSU 4-1 7-4 #159 Nebraska
Oregon 5-1 9-3 #139 UNLV (Neutral Site)
OU 7-3 10-5 @#83 KSU
Xavier 2-1 9-2 #104 Georgetown

*The committee will absolutely look at us beating Nova by 23 on a Neutral site

Our resume is strong compared to the 7 other teams Lunardi has as 1's and 2's

If we beat West Virginia tonight I think this criticism is easily dispelled. Sure, WVU finished 2nd and OU 3rd, but it's hard to argue with OU beating WVU three times.

Yeah I agree. That's kinda my issue. I'm hoping if we win tonight it kinda washes the bad taste of Tech and KSU out of the committees mouth. That would mean we finished the season 6-2 with wins over Baylor ISU @ WVU and WVU again. That's a good finish in my book with losses only coming @UT(where UNC lost) and to the #1 team in our conference championship.

But I like you think a 1 seed is a lock if we win it all.

Looking at that, I'd say KU, Nova, and UVA are pretty safe at the one seed line.

That means OU is competing with MSU and NC for the 4th one seed.

Which means we are in the discussion. And I Like our resume better than MSU's and UNC's

In my mind, KU is a lock. I don't understand why people aren't looking at UVA's resume more critically. They have the exact same record as OU, fewer top 50 wins (though their record vs. the top 25 is certainly impressive), and 4 losses every bit as questionable as OU's loss @ K-State. I'm not saying that UVA isn't deserving, I just don't understand why they're considered a lock where OU is not.

The other think I will say is that UNC is NOT a #1 seed. They only have 3 wins vs. top 50 opponents and they played a pretty mediocre schedule. The only feather in their cap is being ACC regular season champs, but the unbalanced schedule benefited them in a HUGE way (only had to play UVA, Louisville, and Notre Dame once).

problem is EVERYONE else in the world has unc as a LOCK for #1..BPI is #1.

Crazy, looking at pure numbers not sure how OU isn't even considered for a #1 but it is what it is...

I think Nova and KU are locked in. We are competing with the others for two spots. Getting help with MSU, UNC and UVA losses would help.

By the way, I agree that UNC is not a #1 seed, but I'm not sure the committee will look past the name on the front of their jerseys.

I also think Oregon could be considered with a run this weekend.

Palm & Warren Nolan, the two that do the best job seeding, don't have UNC anywhere near a #1 seed. Lunardi - and ESPN - aren't giving OU any airtime, but the guys who are the best at this have OU as a #1.

well, Lunardi has gotten it right last year, all picks, and the year before missed 1 or 2. So he is pretty good as well.

Guess, not hearing any OU on the tube...lots of push for unc.
