I bet Fitz comes back next year a much better player...

Why do you say that?

I think TMG is going to be an All-conference performer. I think Cade Davis will have a great senior year scoring 10+ almost 100% of the time and averaging about 14 or so. Plus I think Cade is going to be the best defender on the team and one of the better defenders in the league.

Tiny could be a double double guy next year (he is close this year and if he could stay on the court he would be). Fitzgerald has had a nice season and I think he can be a good role player. Get one to two garbage buckets a game, hit one to two jump shots a game, convert one to two TMG perfect passes a game. I don't see 8 points as a stretch for Fitzgerald. He came to OU known for hardwork so I think he will be a respectable rebounder and defender as he matures.

Cam is an impact type/border line McD AA (I know he just missed the cut) recruit so it does not freak me out to see his name in the starting lineup. TMG, Tiny, WW and Blake were all quite productive as freshman (Gallon is probably the least productive and he is averaging 10.4 points a game and 8 rebounds - that is darn good for a freshman).

Several reasons.

TMG will be fine, but I still expect him to struggle with defense. Some of that has to do with his height. Other will just effort and want to.

Defensive struggles in general. I like Davis better as a defender guarding 3's and even small 4's, rather than 2's. I know OSU was beating everybody the other day, but Davis got ABUSED off the dribble in that game. Badly. I just don't think he can keep most 2's in front of him all game. Cam isn't known as a defender, probably hasn't played much defense, and will be learning a new defensive system (assuming we have one). I don't see Tiny ever being a good defender. And Fitz isn't bad, but certainly isn't a difference maker.

On offense, I'm not sold Tiny will improve. To me he doesn't have the attitude to improve. I think he thinks he can get by without developing inside. You can litterally see it killing him to have to go bang inside. Not what he wants to do. Fitz isn't going to be a guy you can throw it to inside. And I expect Cam to struggle quite a bit. He isn't big, and he won't be able to just "out-athlete" kids in college. I like his potential, but he is closer to Tiny then TMG/Blake when it comes to impact during the first year. I really expect him to struggle with finding shots within the offense. And he isn't a great shooter, so he can't rely on getting open J's and knocking them down. Not his game. And those of you that think Cade has been great, might want to go check his percentages. He is getting more shots than in the past, but he isn't scoring the ball effeciently enough to be a top 2-3 scorer on a good team.

I just don't see it. We'll be younger and less experienced then we were this year. We lose a 4 year starter, and another guy that has been around for a LONG time in Wright. And our superstar SG in Willie. And we'll replace that with young players, while TMG has a year of experience, and who knows if Gallon even plays again this year.

I'm not saying record-wise we wont' be better. That is dependent on alot of things other than if the team is actually better. But I don't think it'll be more than 2-3 games better when it's all said and done. Unless this team just tanks and doesn't win again, then it might be 3-5 games better next year. I see kind of a bubble team at best with that lineup.

Oh, and while TMG might be better next year, he certainly isn't going to shoot the ball like he has this year, I wouldn't think. He has been out of this world from deep. Just about has to come down. And it still might this year, I guess.

Huh? I agree he's been out of this world shooting, but what makes you so 100% certain that he's not just that good? It looks pure to me.

If the season ended today, he'd have the 5th best 3 point percentage of any Sooner for a single season. And two of the players ahead of him didn't have 50 attempts during their season.

There is only one player with a career percentage of greater than 40%, that is in the top 13 in makes at OU all time. Again, TMG is currently sitting at 45%. My guess is that will come down, and end up around 42% on the year, which is probably more in line with what we should expect. 45%, and even higher a couple of weeks ago, is unprecedented. It just doesn't happen much, expect for the guys that can stand around and be choosey about when they fire it out.

I agree and if he goes through with going out to train with Matrisciano he could turn into a beast!

I was skeptical of Matrisciano and the effect of his workout. The proof to how good his workouts are is not so much in how they helped Blake and Taylor, but how they helped Daniel Orton.

Ryan Wright took part in those workouts as well. As am I this week for my upcoming fight. He is legit.

I was gonna start a new Fitz thread, but thought I would rehash this one.

Fitz is down to 237 pounds, which is big for him coming back a better player. I stand by my comments (for now) that he could have a Freddy Jonzen type of career. Hopefully that turns out to be the case.

What happened to SQuick?

And...

Lineup for next yr

PG TMG
SG Cade
SF Cam
PF Fitz
C Tiny

I'm not a big fan of our four guard lineup, we just seem to get beat up on the boards alot. If the other team has four guards on the floor, I say we keep our two big men in the game. Make them matchup to us, not vice versa.

D'OH!

I don't know. I was more talking about the mental stamina that will be needed to deal with all the "fire Capel" that will happen this season

I cant wait to see him knock down that mid range jumper...SMOOOOOOTH!

I'm here guys, just took some time off during the summer. I did go train with Matrisciano in late May training for an upcoming fight and then was struck down out of the blue with a blood clot in early June. No matter how good of shape you think you're in and how invincible you think you are one can always be knocked down by something as small as a marble! I'm back 100% again and feel great. I'll definitely be around more now that basketball season is just around the corner. I'm excited to see these group of guys play! BOOMER SOONER!
