I just can't shake this bad feeling.

I just don't have a very good feeling about this coaching search at all. I know none of us really has any idea what is going on and I hope I am proven wrong but I just don't feel confident that we can get Buzz Williams. If we can't get him I would rather go with Terry Evans instead of these other names being thrown out there. At least with him we know he has the charisma and passion for OU. The guy truly loves The University of Oklahoma and would without a doubt pour his heart and soul into getting the program back to where it should be. He's got great relationships with Texas high school coaches and I was really impressed with his responses in his interview with the Tulsa World. Having said that, I don't think Castiglione will seriously consider him and I have this nagging feeling we will be stuck with the leftovers in the coaching pot once it is all said and done. No matter what, I will still be watching all Sooner Basketball games and support them through good times and bad. I encourage all optimists to respond because after the last two years I just don't seem to have much. BOOMER SOONER!!!

I think we are probably not even going to hire a coach. We will let the players coach themselves next year and then just shut the program down the year after.

maybe onto something. or let the players coach themselves next year or until pearl is cleared by the ncaa.

Terry Evans would be a great choice!

Terry Evans has ZERO division 1 coaching experience! If Joe C hires him then he has thrown in the towel on OU basketball. I like Terry and would love to see him as an assistant at OU, but as HC...No way!

why not? gotta start somewhere. He has coaching experience and connections. IMO it shouldn't really be that big of a deal to go from div2 to div1

That proves you have no knowledge of how collegiate basketball works. Maybe TE would be a heck of a coach at OU, but to say that going from DII to DI is no big deal is ridiculous.

then he needs to hit the Patriot League or the Southland Conference ... not the Big-12 and certainly not the school I root for.

But a coach is in over his head going from VCU to OU?

LOL. Then that shows how much you know. I'm not trying to be an ahole, all coaching isn't equal and if you don't realize that I don't know what else to tell you. Capel was successful at a mid-major in a tough conference, came here and a few misstep got OU creamed for several years. That's the margin for error. Gotta start somewhere means this person starts as an asst, then gets a mid-major type job, then moves up to elite college coaching. They don't start in the fast lane and last very long. Not saying it's impossible, but I don't think we should be taking 10% chances right now.

capel's problem wasn't coaching. it was evaluating talent and recruiting.

maybe i didn't make myself clear...from a coaching stand point, x's & o's, I don't think it would be that much of a change. At least it shouldn't be.
And with recruiting, if he has connections, he shouldn't have much problems getting his foot in the door.

if you still don't agree with that then fine. you could at least explain the differences of div1 & 2 for us
