I think we could do a lot worse than Terry Evans. But I just don't see Joe C stepping out on that limb to hire the guy. He could very well be a great coach but the program just can't take the fallout if he doesn't. This isn't like hiring Sherri Coale instead of shutting down the women's program.

In my opinion, Terry could eventually build a good program here. But the first few years would be tough. The negative recruiters are already shooting at us. A coach with no D-1 experience would just add fuel to their fire. And recruiting is what is hurting us right now.

If Capel was still here, would it make you feel better? We just came through the worst two seasons in nearly fifty years. Can it get any worse?

As for me, I will remain optimistic that despite our tight-lipped AD, who seems to enjoy keeping everyone on pins and needles waiting until he's ready to make an announcement, most of us will be happy with the coach he chooses. I know that won't include everyone. But as far as I'm concerned, almost anything will be an improvement, and at least we won't have to wonder if we'll see more of the mediocrity that defined Capel's last two seasons.

Does anyone know if Terry Evans has D1 experience? I haven't seen it discussed around here.
