Of Sherri signning girls like Jeffcoat, Zander, Durrett, Cloman, just to name a few, that she is never going to let see the floor for significant minutes.

I understand you need bodies and not everyone is going to be a starter or the first two off the bench, but, geeze.

If Durrett can't give you 10 minutes at least in every stinking game, then, in my opinion, she isn't worth having. And that is definitely not a knockagainst Portia.

She's playing behind Jo and a significantly improved Nicole, so limited time is somewhat understandable.

Additionally, I'm sure there is some merit to the point that she's like a freshman at D-1 and needs to "get it," but come on. She also may be in Sherri's doghouse, who knows -- from which I believe there is never, ever any return.

I just am sick of taking girls because we miss on 8 out of 10 top-level girls that we recruit.

That said, I really hope Portia begins to click and she can give us great minutes over the next two years.

Sherri has just got to kick up the signing a couple of notches or this program will quickly begin to slip back from whence it came.

Patience, young padawan. Kay Kay didn't play much to begin last year either, and was starting for us by tourney time.

To continue Star Wars references, Sherri turned to the dark side (or at least the Bob Stoops side) when it was mentioned aaaagain that she only played 6 a lot and a few not so much blah blah. The postgame press conference ended less than a minute after that question, heh.

Do I have you curious now? Start the video link (the smaller one, not the highlight on at the top of the page) at about 3:15:

Sherri's response made Jo and Morgan smile. They know better than to touch that topic :)

I have to laugh a little because 2 months ago, a lot of people were including McFarland in that list, calling her a "stiff", and wondering why we signed her. Now she's putting up Parisian numbers.

Juco's seldom do much in their first year. Next year Durrett may be putting up McFarland-like numbers.

Ooo! Ooo! I have another one!

ABI OLAJUWON.

Naysayers said: "We only sign players because of their famous last names! Abi hasn't played AT ALL because we already have the Paris twins! Shame on Sherri!"

Naysayers now: My tail is permanently stuck between my legs.

Badger and Tango: Don't you know that players never develop at OU from the first day they step on campus until they finish their careers? Pay no attention to Jo or Abi or Nicole etc. I know I've read on this board that OU players never develop so it must be true! Try to keep up! ;)

Meanwhile, DaShawn Harden is setting the world on fire at the junior college Division II level with Johnson County Community College.

She's played in 10 of the team's 14 games this season (started 6). She's averaging 11.5 ppg (good for second on the team) and 3.3 assists per game with 2.2 turnovers per game.

According to the national junior college site, Harden's best game was against Central Methodist JV. She had 17 points on 6 of 11 shooting with 3 assists and 2 turnovers.

That's what I thought too. Don't know what they are thinking!

I don't believe I have ever said ANYTHING even remotely similar to calling Jo a stiff.

If you want to argue over development and beginning ability, we can do that, but that was not my point.

MY point was that you might be as wrong about Durrett as some others have been about Joanna.

I don't remember anyone saying Joanna was a stiff. Some of us were wondering if she would regain her pre-injury form (which it appears she has) but I don't recall anyone saying she couldn't play well.

I distinctly remember Joanna's name being on someone's list of players we never should have recruited.

You could be right, I just missed it. Joanna has got to continue to play well for us to finish second in the league. I like what I've seen lately.

It's almost like the spirit of Whitney Hand has migrated to Joanna's body.

I think Nicole is showing signs of making progress with the spirit of Nicole (not being argumentative, just some props for her.)

Now if we could get Courtney Paris' to migrate to Griffin. :)

Something tells me our coaching staff also issues her failing rebound grades every game, so perhaps the spirit is already there :)

I deadpan that remark in a very affectionate fan-like way. CP3 was an amazing, but failing graded rebounder, much like Nicole is an amazing player that can't seem to keep the rebounds once she gets them.

Maybe I am missing something here. We are saying that OU should not recruit a girl like Durrett because she doesn't play a bunch of minutes. All I can say is wow. I have been saying that Sherri needs to recruit more players and they don't all have to be superstars or get a lot of minutes to deal with situations like this year with the injuries. Playing time is earned and the coaches should play those who give them the best chance at victory. This means that somebody is going to be on the bench.

Personally, I hope I don't jinx things but Sherri has done a wonderful job so far of managing the team after the injuries. The Texas game was masterful with McFarland and Griffin getting into foul trouble immediately. You can't argue with wins when you have no depth at all.

if thats lighting it up, you must think morgan, sharane, aaryn, and jo are liquid fire. The game at that level is more her speed.
