I think Woodard is a good player

Good game, Jordan! Haters gonna hate!

Some of you guys are too tough on Jordan. He does indeed make poor decisions sometimes that lead to turnovers. But when the game is still in doubt, he's the player I want to see on the free throw line. He was clutch there tonight, making 9 of 10 to seal the game for OU. Yes, he had 3 turnovers and that's too many. But he also had 4 steals and 16 points. I would rather look for the goods things he does than to focus on the negative.

On a related note. How many of you have seen Tum Tum Nairn play this season? Remember how bummed out we were when he chose MSU? Well, if I had my pick of Nairn and Woodard right now, I would choose Jordan. I realize Nairn is just a freshman. But in the four to five MSU games I have seen this season, two in the tourney, he has not impressed me at all. Trip over to the Spartan board and take a look at his stats. Despite the fact that Jordan had a dismal first half of the season, he's having a much better year than Tum Tum.

This is the truth. I'm surprised when he misses one, especially in the last couple of minutes.

I think Woodard has improved significantly...he still needs to work on more consistency with his jumper and reduce the aforementioned leaving his feet...however he is only a Sophomore and will continue to get better in Lon's system.

His ball handling and Free Throw shooting tonight at the end of the game clinched the game for us...

Woodard is a winner, pure and simple. I will never understand the criticism he has consistently received.

I get it (or think I do). I just find it unfair. He was a fairly well-thought-of recruit and people are just expecting too much, too soon. He's a sophomore and people expect him to play like a senior.

The funny thing about all this nonsense is the fact that he HAS played like a SR over the last month or so. He's been clutch, played very solid basketball, set up teammates, played under control for the most part and lead us to a 2nd place finish in the Big 12, a #3 seed, and the Sweet 16. Baffling that all this draws criticism.

His ball handling, quickness, & man defense has dramatically improved. He was also the one tonight settling us down and making sure Thomas touched the ball.

I agree with NCS 100%. His tendency to leave his feet and pass as well as penetrating without support irritates me to no end.

Personally ... he'd ride some pine until he stopped leaving his feet. Thats a bad habit.

That is something you work on in the off season and then sit him next season to send he message, however once conference play begins you really cannot sit Woodard.

Get used to him. He's starting the next 2 years.
His 9-10 FT led us to the sweet 16!

Defensively, he's very good, he's a great free throw shooter, solid passer and a CALM floor general, which fits well with Lon's personality. When he gets a set shot off a post return pass, he can hit the open shot.

Not a great finisher, and he's got to diversify his offensive game. Those are areas for improvement. The only real issue is turning the ball over after over-committing with the dribble. He's got to diversify his offensive game a bit (floater, step back jumper, etc.) and work on a more consistent jump shot, but he'll be great for us next year and all conference as a senior.
