If I were, Kellog, Wyatt, L. Williams and Edwards I would transfer

Ya know, all this talk about who will transfer, or who won't is pretty ludicrous to me. If a kid wants to leave because she wants to play, then good for her and I wish her the very best in her next adventure. If kids want to stay, regardless of their role on this team, then more power to them also. I think being a member of the University of Oklahoma Women's basketball team is pretty special. A lot of kids dream of being there but just don't get chosen. I applaud all the young ladies who come in and put in the hard work that it takes to become a Division I player. I am amazed at how they juggle their time between the scholastics, athletics, and little free time they have. It is hard and difficult, I know from experience. I personally don't think any one will transfer, but I am an optimist. Why leave a program that I see on the rise and some really special things are going to happen for these kids. As I said, if playing time is their first priority, and they wish to move on, believe me there are others just waiting to take their place and I welcome them equally as I do those who wish to leave. So congrats to those who weathered a difficult season and I hope they all will stay around for better things coming their way. The grass ain't always greener on the other side, ya know.

I didn't say Lenesia would take her starting spot. I said she'd take a few more minutes from her than Tt would. Lenesia is not a scorer, the Gioya comparisons are not fair either- She is not nearly as strong as Gioya and that is how Gioya finishes at the rack... Lenesia is a poor mans Eilenberg, if you play her at wing. But at the point? I think she could be an absolute lock down defender on players her size. I think that if she wasn't strictly looking to score -like she often does- she could really excel at creating shots for others- and In the transistion game, she would be a blur. I didn't see her in a ton of true ball handling pressure situations this season so, Idk if she can truly handle that transition. But if she can keep from just getting get ball stolen- I think she could be a very good point guard. Not the total offensive threat that Gabbi is and again, I don't see her taking that spot. But i think its a much better fit for her there, than she is at wing.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I have no idea if she can play point, but you may be right and she may need to get her minutes there. I still think she may be able to be a player similar to Gioya. I will be interested to see what she does next year.

Great post! Thank you! It's feast or famine on this board! First, Sherri doesn't have enough players and she's got all these scholarships and why doesn't she use them! Then, it's we have all these players and they don't get to play enough and some don't smile enough, blah, blah, blah and who's going to transfer? It's comical......ALMOST!

It's me. I'm going to transfer. I'm so desperate for a winner that I'm transferring to the home of the WWW. Of course, it isn't easy. I was told that I had to sacrifice a chicken. I told them that no live chicken had escaped my neighborhood in fifteen years, and I don't even know where the nearest chicken coop is. I guess I could go to the Tyson slaughterhouse downtown, but that's almost as depressing as the WWW. So, they told me I could substitute an opossum, and that's easy. There are a bunch of them down on the creek by the WalMart. I just don't know how to go about catching one, but they look so much like pull toys as they run across the road at 4 AM that I figure I'll just wait until the batteries run out. Then, I'm going to do it. I'm going to sacrifice that opossum and join the fan club of the WWW. Of course, I'll wait until we see all of these transfers. Then, the opossum population of WalMart will be in trouble. I still don't get the part about floating across the Brazos with a pocketful of rocks.

Great post

We're just talking and having a discussion. You guys and gals need to lighten up. It's just something to discuss.

No one wants them to leave. No one has said they might. No one is criticizing anyone or trying to run anyone off.

It's just a discussion that I started saying if I WERE THEM, I'd want to play and I'd think about leaving. I probably wouldn't leave, but I'd think about it.

Relax everyone. Let's have some interesting and fun discussions during the offseason without getting hysterical.

PLEASE MOVE LENESIA TO POINT GAURD

She can put in the hoop every once in a while, but she is not a scorer. But I think She could be a VERRRRRRY good point. If nothing else she could be VERRRRRRY good at guarding points- something we struggle with at times... I think to put her up against Maddie, Gioya, and Peyton- her size is just a disadvantage for her, and she just can't score like them. But if you move her to point, and tell her to just run the offense, I see a player. Most importantly, I especially see a true stopper that can rotate in. PLLLLEASE MOVER HER TO POINT GAURD!!

Moving Lenesia to the point guard position would be a major mistake! She couldn't play PG at a 2A school what makes you think she could do it at a major D1:facepalm She doesn't have the skill set to be a PG you must be a family member to even suggest a ludacris thing like that!!! This truly shows your knowledge of the game!!!!:facepalm

+1.

Oliver Hardy,
They all need to stay but just need to get better at their position! Forcing players to leave would send the wrong message to other recruits. That's a slippery slope my friend!!! If the coaching staff takes your advice they would fall down a razor blade hill into a alcohol river!!!
Oliver Hardy,
This was a terrible post and I wish the powers at be would remove this entire conversation from this website! My opinion!!!

But you couldn't help yourself from reading it and commenting on it, could you?1

Did I miss something? Other than the original post which mentioned maybe pushing people out the door, I think it was a pretty varied discussion on who might play what position AND on who might leave. Maybe a couple of people thought some might leave, not sure if they did. Most posts seemed to be about what the players should do when playing, who might not get playing time.....remembered very little negativity about the players and none about the coach. And I made the argument that none would leave.

Have seen much worse threads and it is always about speculation on this board.

Lol No. I am certainly not a family member..

& I don't run around watching high school basketball games so if there was something that I missed there that would suggest she couldn't do it, then I apologize- Because 17 is great indication of who they will be at 20-21 you obviously make extremely valid points.......

BUT, I also watched almost every game this season, and what I know from her COLLEGE GAMES is- she's not a scorer. And I don't see her ever becoming a consistent scorer at anytime in her career. I keep hearing the comparisons- but Gioya is built. Gioya can rip right through a defender, take body contract from a big and still finish the play- Thats why Gioya's height is a non issue. Lenesia is not built like that and I don't see her ever being built like that. She also has shown no ability to shoot from the outside yet, so she doesn't have that to neutralize her height either. But i see the speed. I see her defensive ABILITY/Potential. And on top of that, I see whoever Gabbi guards, usually scores 20 or has 10 assists -Orrange- Martin- --- had to hide her from Lilly Thompson. Not to mention Moody, Niya Johnson ect.

I also see TT, continually breaking the flow of the play. I see she has little to no scoring ability- little to no awareness- and with her being so small people can run right through her. She will improve in those areas, but right now- extremely raw as well as very small.

Now- Lenesias, biggest issue is she forces shots on a continuous basis, BUT, she does have a rare ability to get by the first defender. She doesn't finish because she's just too small (thin-wise, height wise) and doesn't have the skill set at this point to overcome that (unlike, Gioya, or Ellenberg). But, as far as her college performance is concerned, I don't see any real defencency in ball handling- I do see her throw the ball away from time to time- but I find that to be more of a lack of timing- time goes hand in hand with experience. I definitely don't think she is just not talented enough to make a pass and not turn it over..

What I also don't see is where she will play for the next 2 years, and if we continue to play her at 2 or 3 she will continue to struggle. So, friend. What this all equates to, is I think a change in role, a change in MINDSET will suite her best and she could even thrive. A pace setting, defensive point guard- would utilize her athleticism as well as protect her from having to score to play. Will she be the offensive guard like Gabbi?? no. But I think she could be a plus on the defensive side of the ball, and actually outperform her in that area. Right now she has to come in for Maddie, Peyton, or Gioya and guard girls with 5 inches and 20 lbs on her. She's obviously not going to flourish there- but you put her on a girl her size and let her work?? I see a ton of potential. What I also see, is if she grasps the position, she could be a big addition in our transition game. She is lighting quick and could flat out beat ppl down the floor. That is also something that Gabbi doesn't really bring to the table, and it would be a nice change of pace for the 10 mins that she would play. I am definitely not saying she takes Gabbis spot, Gabbi is a very good offensive guard. But I am definitely saying she could perform at another position at much high level, from what I can see.

But you tell me Geno.

This has been going on for years so I'm sure you've missed most of the negativity on this board. Unless you're aligned with the negativity, you're considered a sunshine pumper (even though none of us have ever said everything is perfect!). :ez-laugh:

Well, I know this is an unpopular stance on this board, and is usually subject to ridicule, but I trust Coach to play her where she can most benefit the team.

Oh- I think Coach Coale is a great Coach and I agree on some level, but also disagree..

I think she sees her ability to beat the first defender off the dribble and says I want that on the wing. And Im sure she has taken a look at her at the point, and once again, that indicated she might be better suited at wing @ the time. When most of these decisions were made though, Gioya and Peyton were for lack of a better word, unknown. Maddie had 2 games where we saw her potential- 2 years ago- who even knew she could play again. So stock piling wings, and giving Gabbi more minutes was not only the safe play- it was the smart play. But now that those are players are pretty established I think you need to revaluate where does Lenesia best fit our roster and our roles on the team. She is obviously not ready to just get thrown out there as point guard, she's a freshman that played as a wing all season. But with a long offseason ahead, i think she could learn to be a really good and Valuable back up to Gabbi- and contribute in a great way NEXT season if she moves there.
