Thought maybe it would be good to have a thread devoted to games involving teams around the Sooners in the rankings and bracket projections. Obviously Saturday was a good day since we beat another of the projected three seeds, and Tennessee also lost. Mizzou lost Saturday and again today. Virginia got smoked last night.

In recent years, I know we had threads keeping tabs on bubble teams ... let’s hope we don’t end up having to do that this season lol.

Mizzou also lost last night at Georgia. They are no longer a threat for a protected seed.

I think if we want to move up in the seed list, probably need to keep an eye on teams like:
  • Illinois - had to hold off a bad Northwestern team last night. Still have road games at Wisconsin and at Ohio State. Could drop both of those.
  • Virginia - FSU manhandled them on Monday. But they only have one sem-tough game left (@Louisville to end the season). Gonna be tough to pass them.
  • Villanova - they've been inconsistent the last couple of weeks. Creighton lit them up last weekend. Have to play Creighton again as well as a hot St. John's team....although both of those will be at home.
  • Houston - they still have to play at Wichita....would could be a potential stumbling block.
  • Bama - @Arkansas is the only tough game left. Would like to see them drop that and have an early exit in the SEC tournament.
  • Iowa - They have a brutal schedule to finish....Wisconsin twice, @ Ohio State, and @Michigan. I don't see them getting out of that stretch with more than two wins.

I can look at some bubble teams this afternoon. But being on the bubble is more of a crap-shoot this year because of uneven schedules.

Houston lost at Wichita State, which will likely drop them down a few spots on the true seed line. Wisconsin got smoked at home by Iowa. The Badgers were a few spots behind us so they missed out on a chance to help themselves

I was really impressed with Iowa last night. They are an offensive machine.... I see why they are ranked #1 in Kenpom offensive efficiency. I will be interested to see where Houston ends up on the seed line after last night.

Games to keep an eye on this weekend: Illinois at Minnesota; Virginia at Duke; Michigan at Ohio State

Tennessee and USC both lost at home today to non-tourney teams, which will hurt their push for a top four seed. Virginia underway at Duke is a game to watch.

Didn't expect either of those. I would really like to see Puke knock off UVA.

Yeah only in a situation like this would I “cheer” for the Dookies. In an ideal world, they win tonight but lose enough over the next couple weeks to still miss the tournament.

Michigan looks like a lock for a 1. Their big would give us a lot of trouble.
