Will Jennings and I have been able to confirm that the following kids are expected to make the trip to Norman in the upcoming weeks on unofficial visits.

2012
James Woodard, 6'3 SG, Edmond Memorial
Dre Wright, 6'9 PF, Lawton Eisenhower
Quinto Paras, 6'3 SG, Lawton MacArthur

2013
Jordan Woodard, 6'0 PG, Edmond Memorial
Shaq Morris, 6'8 PF, Edmond Santa Fe
Stevie Clark, 5'10 Combo Guard, Douglass

The Clark and Morris visits are expected to happen this week and will be taken with one of their AAU coaches, B.J. Lawson.

Paras and Wright are expected to visit with their AAU coach Marco Columbus in the next two weeks as well.

I am not sure who the Woodards will be visiting with, I believe it will just be with their family.

The Oklahoma staff seems to be targeting many kids in Oklahoma, especially in the class of 2013. With the players above and others like Zach Rodgers, Juwan Parker, etc, the class of 2013 is shaping up to be one of the better recent classes in Oklahoma.

Excellent news. From what you guys have seen so far would you offer Paras or James Woodard, neither at this point or both?

Both guys have their positives and negatives. Right now, Paras is more of the dominant player, but Woodard may have more upside and will likely be the player that is more on OU's radar out of the two. Woodard is also qualified.

James helps us get Jordan or is it the other way around?

Question:

If you guys were the parents of any of these boys, would you allow them to visit with their AAU coach but without you?

Depends on who the AAU coach is.

I know their AAU coach personally, BJ Lawson. He's a high quality guy who doesn't have his hand out, but just wants to see the guys that he has coached go on to play college basketball.

I can understand why the players and perhaps their parents would want the coach along. I just don't understand why the mom or dad or guardian wouldn't go with them.

Stephen's mom is very involved in his recruitment, has been on every recruiting visit and at every AAU tournament. She may indeed be making this visit as well, I'm not sure. Shaq's mom is not as involved in the basketball scene.

Lawson has been Shaq's AAU coach since third grade and Stevie's since 6th. So he's not your run of the mill AAU coach.

People take recruiting trips all of the time without their parents. These guys in the 2013 class will probaby unofficially come to campus a couple of times, they're in high school, doubt they want their parents coming along every single outing.

I can understand that, expecially if they live close. But the first time my kid visted, I'd be with him.

It would be nice if either or both of the Woodard brothers decided they wanted to be Sooners this weekend.

I would be, too, if it was an official visit. An unofficial with a friend or two is not nearly as important, because parents won't likely learn too much about campus life, educational opportunities or the facilities until they can be escorted around by a member(s) of the coaching staff. I'd definitely be there on an official visit, though.

Sam, thanks for letting us know about the local kids getting looks. I'm one of those fans that believe OU should try to have a team loaded with state and regional players and this post lets me know that Kruger continues to be moving in a direction that I like.
