Iowa State should be the Big-12 favorite

Welp, KU’s odds just took a major hit...

BREAKING: Kansas big man Udoka Azubuike will miss the remainder of the 2018-19 season due to a torn ligament in his right hand, per release.

Definitely a huge development but Self is a master of figuring out how to win the league. I hate KU but hate seeing this happen to any player, especially because he missed most his freshman year with the same injury. So we'll be the only Big 12 team to face him all season.

League is officially up for grabs with Dok out for the year. We need to do our part and get them in Norman.

KU still has to be given the benefit of the doubt given they win it every damn year, but they are going to need some luck to pull this one off.

Whoever wins it...will have 3 to 5 losses...and probably wont win B12 tourney either...

I can just see it coming down to a team ku needs to have lose in order for them to claim title on last fricking day of season...and it happens.

All bad things must also come to an end, sooner or later. Think about it.

Azubuike being out just furthers the point. ISU's roster is better than KU's top to bottom.

1. ISU
2. KU
3. OU/TCU/TTech

I think you have the Top 5 right....but it could be in any order at this point. I am curious to see how Iowa State plays on the road against a decent team (no osu doesn't count). I also believe that TCU is flying under radar and may be a little better than everyone thinks at this time. As for Tech, I think their lack of offensive punch is going to cost them a couple of losses that may be considered unexpected.

your questions are certainly legitimate ones. I havent had a chance to see TCU play yet. I have watched ISU a couple of times same with Tech. I also wonder if KState will bounce back a bit.

KSU can't get any worse, and will almost certainly improve when Wade returns. But their offense was horrible even before he got hurt -- if they had played a decent noncon schedule, they would have at least a couple more losses.

Just saw two reporters tweet that Muni looked good in practice today, and he said that he definitely plans on playing tomorrow. I guess the bigger questions are, how long and how effectively will he play. Sure would be nice to get him back to full speed over the next week or two.

He looked to be in such pain after getting injured on Saturday, I'm just thrilled to have learned that he didn't actually aggravate the ankle sprain.

Not sure about him, but I would. ISU tonight is a perfect example of why KU wins every year.

Exactly. This has played out almost every year with the same end result.

KU will win the big12 again and is always the favorite until someone else actually wins the league.

The team that is better at winning on the road usually wins the conference. KU has that intimidation factor over most teams - even on the road.

Another relevant note -- KU is bringing a freshman off redshirt tonight. He was a top 150 recruit and Self has said he is the best overall athlete on the team. They initially planned to redshirt him because he was pretty raw and didn't figure to play a ton, but he has apparently improved a lot since October and they are obviously going to have to play smaller without Azubuike. I can't imagine any other team in the league having the luxury of redshirting a guy like that, so it again shows that their roster is pretty darn good despite how bad they looked last weekend.

Conference is so good

Saw 4 good teams tonight. KU and TCU both without their best players are still money. And K State without their best guy too
